Sedona Golf Resort

Recommended Posts

Gents,

My wife is talking about taking a trip to Sedona. Sedona golf resort looks like a great option and it appears to be a pretty reasonable price to play. Any other courses near Sedona I should consider? Any feedback on Sedona Golf Resort would be great.

I played Sedona Golf Resort once. It was really nice. Lots of elevation change and views of the surrounding mountains. Course was in good shape, not too difficult but well worth a play. When we went a few years ago I looked into other courses. I think there are 2, this one and one called Oakcreek or something. I asked a similar question on here and most said they are both good, but Sedona Golf Resort is probably a little more scenic and nice. That's what I went with and we were not disappointed.

Unclear if your wife will be playing...

Oak Creek is a golfer's course: really good layout, lots of variation, feel is kind of higher end muni, but no views.

Seven Canyons has the best views but IMO, oak creek is the best course.

Plus honestly, in Sedona, you have fantastic scenery all around you so it's not like you'll miss anything in the golf course that you couldn't see by taking a little easy hike, or even just driving around.

Here's a link to a deal up at oak creek, haven't looked to see if it's a better deal than what's being offered on golfnow etc

There's also a fun little 9 hole called canyon Mesa, I used to play that with my wife when we'd do trips up there

Not to thread jack, but I'll be staying in Flagstaff for three nights in mid June...is there anywhere in Flag worth playing or should I just drive down to Sedona?

Flag has great privates if you can get on, but Continental is the only public and while it is OK, it is your basic muni track, Oak Creek in Sedona (a much better muni than Continental) and the other Sedona options discussed are much better.

Thanks. I might be able to get on the private tracks but the fees of the one's I called were pretty steep. Forest Highlands was around $250 and Pine Canyon was $175.

I've only played the Meadows at Forest Highlands and while it was nice, there's no way I'd pay that kind of money for it.

I thoroughly enjoy Continental. Haven't played there in a few years but I remember the greens being stupid fast.

Sedona golf resort is a fun course with great views. Not going to write home about the lay out or the conditions but the views are memorable. Seven Canyons has some amazing views as well but it is a more difficult course with premium conditions. Oakcreek is just a fantastic simple golf course. Well designed and well maintained. If I had to choose I'd pick Oakcreek.

Canyon Course at Forest Highlands is definitely worth the money! And Continental on a windy day was always a blast!!

I was in Flagstaff over the weekend and played Oak Creek and Elephant Rocks.

OC was in really nice condition but man was it tight! I only hit one fairway the entire day. Driver is not a smart play on most of the dogleg holes.

ER was a more forgiving layout but it played extremely difficult due to the 40 mph winds (no exaggeration). Between trying to gauge the wind and the elevation effect on my distances I found approach shots to be a guessing game. I also lost like 5 balls on the front nine. The back nine plays in the opposite direction which was much easier given the wind, and I didn't lose any additional balls.

Both courses are worthwhile plays imo. My buddy booked via golfnow and we paid $25 and $22 to play each day, respectively. Can't beat those deals!

oak creek canyon is the better of the 2 in my opinion.. Seven Canyons is private.. i managed to get me and my dad on.. paid a pretty penny, but it was well worth it, its a big step above the rest for sure!

we actually stayed at canyon mesa. the 9 holer.. it was a ton of fun honestly! and there were some good views.. we would play in the AM.. come back.. relax at the pool.. then play 9 in the evening! it was a great week!

sedona golf resort was cool.. but i enjoyed the other sedona courses more..
