Sounds like this shaft may be pretty pricey! Any early reviews?

It should go about $800 and it is a very interesting shaft. I found it to be very stable (if not extremely), dispersion is (in my humble opinion) second to none and it feels really good too. It is a major improvement than the previous Diamana X, in my opinion.

But, to some, it maybe a tad stiffer than the flex suggest. Some friends who tried mine found that the sis not a shaft that you can hit 80%, even though we are all playing the same flex and weight, and similar bend profile. To them, this is a shaft that you have to go all out for it to perform as intended. But it performs extremely well to me. Maybe they should go one flex down or even half-flex down, since the 50 and 60 grams are now available in SR-flex.

By the way, it does available in 50 grams, now...

$750 I believe. I've had Protos for about 6 months and it feels amazing. Silky smooth and very connected feeling. The very low torque in the heavier model makes it very playable for the stronger player as well. I should have some finished graphics any time and will post some pics.

Which of the photos that you have? I believe they issued 2 photos to be tested, a higher launch version and a lower launch version.

Have one coming this week! Why aren't tour players playing it?

Obviously it's my opinion but it's based on the previous version that was $800 and had no tour presence. Their Tensei line has done fairly well on tour and the new Orange looks promising with Rose already trying it.

I wonder if it's the fact that just literally so few were made it doesn't allow them to do the necessary testing they need to do on tour to put it in a players bag

Trust me those players try shafts months even years before it makes it to market. The X line for Mitsu is their way of experimenting with the latest and greatest but it doesn't always pan out. I just don't see the point for them if players on TV aren't using it. If it was a small company i would understand but Mitsu is already in so many bags why bother?

Really hard to find any info in this shaft. I actually have one on the way so I will report back in a few weeks once I've had time to mess around with it.

I've heard very conflicting things bout it. Some say that it is a super stiff t1100 beast type of shaft. Others say it is similar to a blue board but with experimental materials.

My plan is to use it in a fairway wood. I've recently become obsessed with building a fw wood with a superstable shaft and a high lofted head.

Be careful in your pursuit of the unicorn 3 wood :D Some never come back from a trip like that.

Tour players generally like stout and tight feeling profiles. This shaft is so silky smooth that it doesn't really fit the feel dynamic of most Tour players.

I'm already way down the rabbit hole on this one. I have a rent checks worth of shafts on the way. Stout ones for high launch heads and smooth ones for lower launch heads.

I've had the chance now to hit my x17 a few times. For context, I'm playing a 70S in a 5w and I tipped it a hair less than recommended because I was afraid it would be too much shaft for me.

The results so far are great. It is a super smooth shaft, even though I hate that descriptor. It feels really stable but not harsh. Not sure if it is the marketing working on me or not, but I can almost feel the density of the carbon fiber. The best way to describe it is that its almost feels as if the shaft is a solid rod instead of a hollow tube. It seems as if the density of the fibers filters out a lot of the high amplitude harsh vibrations and just transmits low amplitude smooth vibrations. It almost turns the hollow feel of hitting a wood into something more muted and soft, a little more like hitting a forged iron. The launch is on the lower side but the spin isn't incredibly low for me, more like mid-low. You don't have to be a beast to handle it either. I'm usually between stiff and regular and I almost wished I had tipped it normally instead of "soft stepping" it.

As you can tell, I like the shaft a lot. Its going to be my FW gamer for a while. I had a Tour AD-F that I bought new waiting to install but I'm probably just gonna sell it unless I get really bored. I'm tempted to try the x17 in a driver, but it would probably be too low launching. I'm the rare bird that needs a lower launching FW shaft than my driver shaft.

This is my first high end mitsubishi shaft and it won't be my last. I'm actively on the hunt for a Diamana BF. The hipster in me really likes the fact that Mitsubishi produces the raw materials as well as manufactures the shaft, kind of like a farm to table concept or estate sourced wine grapes. Everyone else buys resin from Toray. I'm sure its just as good, but it doesn't quite have the emotional appeal.

better than OG whiteboard?

Speaking of, I finally can talk about Diamana White Force coming shortly. It should be just what you're looking for. I expect to have stock available in the relatively near future.

continue.......

Interested to see what the difference in performance will be from x-series to new WF....

I have the original X from 2013. I totally agree with what you're saying. Feels the exact opposite of a "glassy" feeling Crazy shaft. Almost like a soft but tight rubber feel. Extremely smooth and difficult not to hit straight. Mid/low spin and launch. Also agree with you about the hipster thing. I think Mitsubishi makes the best shafts in golf. I just think they have too many models.

Wish someone could test the X vs the Tensei white and Orange and White Force, Kuro Kage Dual Core XT as well as some offerings from Padderson and Veylix and the new one Justin Rose just won with ($700) and Baselius and Crazy. Maybe through in a M9003 from Graphite Design, too.
