I had full sets of both. Currently gaming 4/5 Hot Metal and 6-PW forged. Both absolutely fantastic! Ultimately choose the Forged for more feel on my approach shots. Running the modus 105s.

I have a combo set of them. 4-6 Hot Metal and 7-P Forged.

I knew the Forged would feel good but what really surprised me was the Hot Metals. I was not expecting them to feel that good. Most non-forged clubs I hit, I struggle to feel the ball compressing off the face. With the Hot Metals, I can feel the compression

I really think Mizuno hit a home run with the metal mixture in the Hot Metals.

On a side note, I think it's funny how every European like Rick Shields or Mark Crossfield struggle to say the word "Chromoly" during their Hot Metal review. It's almost as if Europeans never heard of Chromoly.

Why wouldn't he be able to tell the difference one is forged one is cast. One has a springy face one doesn't.

Thanks scratch! I wasn't going to give the troll any bait or explanation as it doesn't deserve it but yeah, you're spot on!

Well that spiraled out of control pretty quickly - but to get back to the original question. When these clubs came out we did a little head to head with them - yes pun intended :) Please see below and I hope this helps.

We had a quick analysis done with the Hot Metal vs. the Forged a few weeks ago, (see below).

First up was the 6I hot metal with the modus 120 stiff.

84 Mph club head

115 ball speed

20.6 * launch

6652 spin

160.4 carry

47-52* landing angle

109' height

Next 6I forged with same shaft

85 club head

117 ball speed

19.4* launch

6332 spin

164.4 carry

47-51 land angle

105 height

Also I have seen a few requests for info on project X LZ so same player with 900 forged and 6.0 shaft

85 club head

116.8 ball speed

19.5 launch

6280 spin

164.5 carry

105 height

Averages were based upon 8shots with each club. Any shot widely outside the averages were not counted. Data from trackman on an indoor session. Golfer is a mid 50's player with handicap in the 6-7 range. Overall impressions were positive for both heads.

I have seen quite a few reports showing the forged spinning less which is crazy. I did not get those same results. Not being such a "techie" is this based on the swing? shaft? combo of both?

I typically don't play into marketing much but dare I say it has something to do with the boron?

Same set up as me, though I'm still waiting for them to arrive as I only had my Mizuno Fitting last week.

I do notice that the corresponding 'Forged' Iron launches about 1.5* lower than the 'hotmetal'. Hence why I went with the 'Forged' 7-PW, 1* weak loft.

Please report your experiences. I'm curious about the gapping you experience between the spring face 6 iron and the weakened forged 7 iron. I've found that the HM irons are LONG when nutted.

The HM's are long as you say. What we found was that my 6 carry was 182y with the HM and 176y with the 'Forged' 6 irons. We found this discrepency only really due to the lower lainch angle of the 'Forged'. The thought behind going 1* weak with the 'Forged' 7-PW was that it will give me a touch higher launch angle witha few hundred rpm more spin to keep the ball in the air that bit longer and hence bridge the gap in distances a touch. I have also ordered, upon the recommendation of the Fitter a 'Forged' 6 iron too. So that I can either play 4-5 HM 6-PW Forged or 4-6 HM, 7-PW Forged.

But it is certainly something to keep an eye on, when they arrive to see if that gap between the HM and the Forged is consistent enough, I would totally agree.

Personally, I would have quite happily gone with all 'HM', to alleviate the possible issue here, but the Fitter felt that I would still benefit in the long run with the Forged in the scoring irons.

I must admit that I am still a touch concerned about it, but only some testing when they arrive will tell me if there is a problem as you rightly point out. Fortunately under Mizunos' club fit guarantee, if it doesn't work out and I have the need to go all HM, then they should replace gratis.
