ecco cage pro boa

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I've been on a bit of a mission to find a good spikeless shoe, including asking for some advice on here.

As a result I had a look at the ecco stuff and really like the cage pro boa.

The catch is that no shop near me holds them, and due to the price they don't want to order an unwanted size!

I've tried on the laced cage and they fit really nicely - question is, do the boa fit the same? I'd presume that they would, but thought I'd ask the question as none of the shops have ever seen a pair and therefore can't help!

Thanks in advance.

Can't help exactly. But I wear ecco everything (3 pairs of golf shoes, dress shoes, 2 pairs of walking shoes) and their 47 is a 47 across all lines for me.

Also just stopped in to say if you have Amazon prime or order from somewhere like zappos they will ship for free and if they don't fit you can always return and they will even cover return shipping.

Thanks very much for your reply.

Advice taken - I've actually ordered from ecco's online store as they have 10% off when you sign up to their newsletter! They also do free returns, so I can change the size if needed - but hopefully I won't need to.

Skeeterfire - they've arrived and fit! To confirm,I normally wear uk 8 (42) in Adidas, and tried on the ecco biom hybrid 42 which fit, but I've got the cage pro boa in 41 and they fit well - certainly wouldn't want them any bigger!

It's the first time I've seen them in the flesh and they look much better than in the photos - they are more cream than white, whilst the orange looks good.

Seem very comfy and look forward to seeing how they stand up to a summer of use!

It will be interesting to see how long they last - I would hope that they'll last longer than 2 years!

I suppose it depends on how much you play, how many pairs of shoes you have and how well you look after you stuff. I always have two pairs of shoes and tend to get at least a few years wear out of all my shoes, so I'd hope these would be no different.

Hopefully for your sake they have greatly improved on their "Hydromax weather protection system" since the original Biom Hybrids with Yak leather, if you ever play in early/dewy or wet conditions. You'll notice they claim to be water "resistant", not "waterproof", and they were indeed not. Only pair of golf shoes I've ever had to return, as they leaked like a sieve when playing in the dew.

I've had several pairs of previous leather spiked shoes and a pair of casual shoes and now some "trail boots" from them, and they are indeed well made and very comfortable, but them not being able to go even 9 holes in the dew without requiring a change at the turn was a deal breaker for me. I always have several pairs in the locker that I rotate through and they usually last several years, but once they start to leak they are in the garbage.

That's not great at all.

I have bought these very much as a summer shoe, so not looking for full waterproof ability but as you say they need to be able to cope with early dew. I still have my adizeros which I'll use all winter.

I'm really intrigued about these. I have never owned a pair of Ecco before, nor a spikeless pair. I had so many people tell me that Ecco were the best shoes they'd ever owned, so when I saw these they seemed ideal - it's sad to hear that some haven't had good experiences of them, but I'm hopeful!

Don't get me wrong, I love me some Eccos, I have worn the same pair of Ecco Trek Goretex hiking boots for the last 3 fall/winters and they are great, along with a pair of "casual" shoes I have, But when it comes to golf shoes I need waterproof, not water resistance, since I play the majority of my golf early in the AM.
