Where to take an 8 year old

I am heading down to Scottsdale(Carefree/Cave Creek) this week and would love any input on where to take my 8 year old for a quick afternoon nine. He has a lot of experience playing courses with junior tees set about 150-250 yards out. I know a par 3 or executive course would work but do any of the "big boy" courses have junior tees with some nice junior rates? I appreciate any help ya'll have. Thanks.

The freshly restored and re opened Mountain Shadows sounds like the ticket. Dont let the fact that it is a par 54 fool you it is a wonderful property with some very good golf holes.

I don't know about jr rates but the Boulders has jr tees.

Mountain shadows is fun and I've taken my kids there. 500 club futures course we enjoyed, and paradise valley golf course is an executive (not in good shape at all) that is interesting.

 

I know the Raven used to do a family tees deal 2-3 years ago when I lived there.

Silvadaro has what they call the Silver Pony course. Tee boxes 75-150 out on the front nine. $10 total for adult and kid after 3 pm (includes cart).

Also check out The Youth on Course program. Kids can play participating courses for around $5.

We hit Mountain Shadows today. I can't thank you guys enough for the recommendation. My Dad and I payed $60 and the kid was $15 which I thought was reasonable considering the design, conditions and customer service. We got around in about 2 1/2 hours sharing a cart with minimal waiting. They were still stocking the pro shop and there was a lot of construction going on around the course but it in no way interfered.

 

The boy had his first birdie (I gave him his four footer after I drained a thirty footer) and Grandpa finished strong. We had a blast!!!
