Erin Hills trip

Last minute decision to go to the US O. Got tickets for the weekend only. Fly into Chicago on Friday night. Might make the Brewers game on Saturday and leave a little early.

 

Any suggestions on what to check out in the area? Going to the Harley museum for sure. Spending a few days in Chicago watching the Cubs a few days after as well.

As I posted in the "Looking forward to Erin Hills?" thread:

 

For those attending the event from out of state, try to make time to go and play some of the other courses that Wisconsin has to offer. If you have access via a private club, there are many courses in the area if your pro can make some calls. Sand Valley is filling up fast, so finding a tee time around the event is going to be hard and the same will go for the Kohler courses. Washington County, which was mentioned earlier in this thread is always a fun track and hosted a US Open local this year. Sentry World is always in great shape and was recently redone making it better than ever before. Close to Sand Valley is the Lake Arrowhead courses, which are also good but are certainly more resort style golf. You can always venture down to Lake Geneva for a bunch of golf, though those are also mostly resort courses. There's also the Bull in Sheboygan Falls which isn't all that far away.

 

If somebody wants more recommendations or for whatever reason would like a fourth, feel free to PM me, as I can go on for hours being a native.

If you're looking for some good courses between Chicago and Milwaukee, consider Thunderhawk, Shepherds Crook, or Stonewall Orchard in Illinois. Brighton Dale in Kenosha is really good. Brown Deer in northern Milwaukee is excellent and a former PGA tour stop.

 

One really good course near Erin Hills that few people are mentioning is Nagawaukee. "The Nag" is a fairly "bare bones" county course. It's hilly, a nice layout, excellent scenery, and always in good condition. A good selection of places to eat and drink within a mile of the course.
