My first on course altercation

Recommended Posts

"Come and get some" is seldom the answer, especially to such a silly situation - THAT is what you appear to fail to see. :dntknw:

That is the peanut gallery's narrative based on few of the details. The rhetoric is super unnecessary but I guess my fault, I wrote it off as golf course idiocy in the OP and assumed nobody cared BUT I think people read rules and etiquette like they watch cops (drunk and angry).

This guy was a bully and I let him know that if he was going to do anything physical about it as he suggested he would (that pudge threatened to kill me with his iron), then he would have done it by then. If you're coming over then come over here, if not pipe down. He had pushed too far and got called out on it, simple as that.

It's my hope that he doesn't do that in the future. He was okay with threatening me and the new players I brought with me, god forbid he starts yelling at someones kids next time. So I hear you, I disagree with you in this situation.

So for my responsibility in letting people play through, and understanding that I don't have a high level view of the course at large... is it fair for me to only worry about who is directly behind me and in front of me or do I need to be managing some jack weeds time 4 groups behind me also?

You're not really asking a question here. You clearly know the answer. You may be looking for justification for a near altercation, and it's clear that most replying to this thread disagree with you there.

Very well stated and dead on the money.

As I take it he is sort of seeking approval for actions he already took. The "peanut gallery" has said, multiple times, that said approval isn't coming as openly and freely as the OP must have thought it would. And thus he has lashed out which again really speaks volumes.

OP - violence is never the answer. Escalation takes two. Even if the other guy was mostly at fault you still own a great deal of the situation. Better to have just ignored the guy and moved on. This is especially true if the guy had been drinking which almost always serves to make bad situations worse.Making fun of the replies counter to your own opinions and maintaining that you are in the right even though the majority here disagree really isn't helping your "I didn't escalate it, he did" case.

a few things

1- what does go jeff yourself mean?

2 - why was there a 6some.....that's an issue right there

3- something seems out of place....one minute they are cool, not wanting to jump ahead of you and the next minute they want to fight you for no reason? hmmmm seems odd.

its good you guys didn't scrap. Golf isn't worth it

I don't necessarily agree with this, Dr. What I think is that he only wants your opinion if you agree with his handling of the situation. ;)

If winning was easy, losers would do it.

Clearly the bolded part of my OP was the point, it's hard to make that any clearer but you can take it at face value.

This is ignorant garbage, it does not take two to escalate a situation you can be victimized very easily for no reason at all and telling on them like a coward is not an appropriate reaction.

Several times I have wasted my time replying to you. Each time you reply with an attack. Very telling.

You are a bully. You don't take well to others calling you out for it and seeing you for who and how you are. You came here looking for absolution when you almost caused a fight over a small issue. And you probably have anger management issues.

Instead of trying to be nice, since you apparently see such actions as cowardly, I figured perhaps it would be best to just lay it out there.

Now, I am going to go to my profile and thoroughly enjoy blocking you. Simply stated, you are not worth any more of my time. You were in the wrong. Part of the problem or part of the solution and there is no middle ground. The courageous thing to do in this case was nothing at all. See, the trouble with you whole position is you just never know how bad things can get until you take them there. Suppose the guy pulled out a weapon. Or he and his friends came over and jumped you. Or best of all he called the pro shop and told them you were threatening he and his buds and they came out and gave you the boot. Just pathetic and stupid all the way around. Violence NEVER settles anything. Why is this such a hard concept for you to comprehend?

I'm out. Good luck to you. Maybe next time you can beat the crap out of a couple of guys on the course and you'll feel all better about the whole thing.

You started this rhetoric, for whatever reason. Even before you even had the facts, Medic. And now you don't wish to continue discussing it when I point that out to you? Also pretty cowardly...
