I have a tee time March 2nd for a foursome. Do I need to call ahead to request caddies or do they just assume we will be taking them? Yes, I realize it's walking only that time of year. Thanks!!

They will have a bunch there and assume you will need a caddy. But you can choose not to have one if you want to carry your own bag.

It’s 100 per carrying bag and 50 per forecaddie. Don’t let them tell you other wise.

I was there this week for 3 days of golf. There were plenty of caddies but it helped to tell them your intentions if you want to secure the same caddie for more than one round. We had guys in our group that used single caddies, double, forecaddie, and carry their own. Rates (excluding tip for each) were $100 for single bag caddie, $90 per person for double bag, $30 per person for forecaddie if entire group was using, and $15 for a pull cart.

My thoughts are Caddies were good for reading puts on all 3 courses and for sight-lines on the Black as there are numerous blind shots. Red/Blue were pretty straightforward if you have a laser as you can see most landing areas or carry lines. Caddies were also helpful on placement of approach shots if you have never played the course as greens are big with significant slope in areas.

Jeff, what were your thoughts on the courses?

All 3 courses are very enjoyable. Blue was my favorite followed by Red and then black. The red and blue have some great views from the tee. All play pretty open. The greens on black played significantly slower than the other two and they are huge...a bit too tricked up for me personally with some of the extreme contouring. It made some of our side bets really interesting. One of our side bets that hardly ever pays out with our group on trips is anyone who has a 4-putt has to buy dinner for the group that night. The first day we played black there were 2 4-putts.

I will definitely go back again.

I am still having trouble on the website. Are you able to make a tee time for 2 or do you have to call?

And then you call and nobody picks up....

Service is just not their strong suit.

It's not so much that it's bad, it's just not.

Finally called a random number and got directed to the golf shop.

Has anyone had luck booking 2 rounds in one day? They said I needed to finish my first round then go to the golf shop for a replay. I'd understand if my morning time was late buts its 945. I was thinking 945 and 230 for a replay.

I don't think they let you book a replay, but you'll have no trouble getting out.

I suspect that they have had an issue with guys whose eyes are bigger than their stomachs, so to speak. The courses are not easy walks, and a lot of northerners aren't really in golf shape right now...so I can imagine guys walking off one course and then bailing on their afternoon tee time with some regularity.

My advice is as follows:

Red course is better than the Blue course

Stay out of the weeds as I saw some huge snakes on the course.

Drink plenty of water

Watch out for gators as they have some large ones on site

Do they stop taking tee times after a certain time in the day? Looking at all the dates on the website it looks like they stop around 230. I realize resort guests could have booked all of them before they are public but it just seems that late afternoon tee times are very rarely available.

Update: I just called and they close the tee sheet at 2 so replays are walk-ups.

Recommend caddies for Blue/Red? I would for sure if I end up on Black.

I wasn't quite planning on one. I walk 95% of my rounds and in good shape. Also shouldn't be too hot early April.

Request Marc Dull. He was the 2015 USGA Mid Amateur runner-up. He's a personal friend of one of my best friend's. He's been known to shoot 6 - 10 under par on the Red and Blue consistently.

Just got back from Streamsong. Only played the Red course as we were in Orlando for 4 days of golf and drove down for the day. I think the logistics have been cleaned up significantly from some of the early reviews I read. We had absolutely no problem taking a 2 minute cart ride to the range / practice area and back, plenty of "shuttle drivers" moving back and forth. Super easy to hook up with a caddie; very smooth process overall. While I don't think a caddie is necessary on Red, we had great guys and it definitely added to the experience.

Most critical tip; don't forget the chopped brisket on the 8th of Red, will change your whole outlook on life.

Can anyone else recommend a caddie at Streamsong?

Heading down in May and playing Red-Black and Blue-Red in two days. Thinking a looper might be nice for the Black based on what I’ve read about the course and the potential afternoon heat. I’ve only utilized a caddie service at Whistling Straits (Craig) and it was a positive experience. But based on that experience I found that a caddie will either enhance a round of golf or ruin a round of golf. Craig’s approach was to simply provide me with numbers and his local knowledge, otherwise he had a passive and stoic attitude. Which was a perfect fit for me.

Yeah, I get that from past years but they don't even have it on their website anymore. It just has a "non-guest" and "guest" rate.

Noticed the same thing...hopefully they post in the summer but it's odd they took it off the menu.

Bringing a buddy for his first time to SS in May to play Black & Red. I played Red last year and really enjoyed it. A little apprehensive about the Black after reading some reviews but figured you have to do it once. Going to try to walk both back to back on the same day. Also spoke at length with a SS representative and they said the resident rate could be reinstated during the summer months but they have not yet heard a final decision.

Personally I hated Black, it’s just not fun, basically like playing on the moon. Play Blue and Ref if you can instead.

Had a decent one in our group I think his name was Jax. He basically assisted me as he was another players caddie but he helped me quite a bit.
