Streamsong Tips?

I just got back from down there with 3 buddies. We played the Red and Blue. Both really nice we seemed to like the Red better. Was pretty windy during both rounds. Hotel was nice rooftop bar was a good spot.

 

As everyone says there really is nothing else down there. We didnt care we are all pretty hardcore golf and a good steak guys when we go on golf trips. Usually play 36 multiple days when we go away. Usually do 2 pretty good trips a year with the guys.

 

My one issue with Streamsong is when I start to compare it to all the other places I have been or potentially could go for my future golf trips I dont think I would go out of my way to go back. Again course, clubhouse, food, hotel was very nice but just something about it felt a little lacking. If i was in Tampa I would do a day trip out to play a round but would not book a 3-4 day trip back down there over places like Kiawah, PGA National, and Scottsdale that we did lately. Money in the end works out to be pretty close.

 

If I lived in the area and got a local deal to play the tracks then its a different story.

What are course conditions like as you get toward summer? Are they still the same quality (its just a harder walk with the heat)?

Going in May. Annual 12 person buddies trip.

 

Playing:

Thursday PM : Black

Friday 36 : Red

Saturday AM : Blue

Saturday PM : Black

 

dinners at P2O5, Bone Valley Tavern, Restaurant 59.

 

Flying into Orlando and getting a Sprinter since we won't need to rent cars.

 

Any other tips/suggestions for our trip? Ideally wouldn't be playing Red back to back but tee times were limited.

Played once in the summer / walking with caddies a couple years ago. I did not notice any dropoff in the conditions compared to other times of the year. Summer heat made it very uncomfortable of course.

 

I have been paired with some groups that were on their 2nd / 3rd day of stay / play. On days where it was slightly warm (not FL Summer hot) there was always someone who would quit after 9. This happened 3 times when I would play there in the spring time. Also this was around the time when they started the "walking only" rule from January to March. The heat can physically wear you out, especially if you are not used to the FL humidity in the summer.

Conditions are excellent...have played many early rounds in the summer and always impressed with conditions.

Have the option to play Blue 2x or Black 2x. Playing Red 2x already. What do you think: Blue vs Black?
