Just got Miura LH Cavity Backs, what to expect?

Currently, I play Mizuno MP 54's and have the standard Miura LH Cavity Backs coming in. What differences should I expect?

Which cb's did you get?

 

I played my first 18 with my cb501's and it's been a transition coming from Adams pro black mb. I also switched from s300 to x100.

 

Pured shots feel incredible, but I've had some ugly ones too. I'd recommend spending some time on the range before hitting the course. You won't regret the purchase.

Basic CB design with legendary forging.

 

Feel is great, turf interaction is great, look is great, and they're as forgiving a club as any decent ball striker needs.

 

I haven't liked any of the cut cavity designed clubs like the 54. They feel hollow to me because they're, well.... hollow!?!

They are great. Feel great. But don't generate a lot of ball speed.

 

If you want more ball speed go mizuno jpx 900 forged.

Your clubs have a progressive cut cavity. The longer the iron the more mass is moved from the center of the club to the perimeter. CB's don't have any added design element hidden behind a veneer. What you see is what you get. Not a lot of difference in older Titleist CB's before the tungsten weighting. Slightly different sole grind.

 

Then of course Miura forging is legendary. Whether or not you feel the difference will depend on you. You'll know soon enough.

I'd also add that matching the right shaft will be important. I've had several sets with different shafts and the best match I've found gives me plenty of distance. I don't think they'll ever fly as high and far as a SGI iron, but the distance, ball flight, and especially the feel is superior IMO.

Two things.

 

1) The shaft is the most important in fitting. Test your shortest and your longest irons.

 

2) Your wedges are supposed to be your scoring clubs. Did you opt for their Y grind, or was that not available?

 

Do NOT be afraid to mix and match, because what goes in your bag should be what works.

 

 

PS- Will buy Miuras when they offer the CB 57 like they made for Jack Nicklaus, but not in my lifetime, because......."tiny."

They're probably a half a club shorter if you're truly maximized with both.

I switched to the Miura LH CB three years ago after playing a few sets of Titleist CBs over the 10 years or so prior to that (695, 690.CB, 712, and the 712 AP2). The Miuras have a different, more dense/solid feel on center strikes than did the Titleists. Distance is about the same as I had the specs adjusted by the builder to match the Titleist specs. They are great irons with a unique feel and you won't run across many, if any, other people playing them. I like mine a lot.

Compared to my MP 54's they're playing about the same yardage

Got to agree the feel is very distinctive compared to anything I've hit before. I'd just describe them as dense feeling
