Club Championship drama and nonsense

So round two of drama and nonsense for this years club championship has arisen. (for part 1 see here).

 

Our championship had a two round qualifier, pick the best round for your seeding. There were people upset that the second round was set up 150 yards shorter. A re-seeding tournament was held, but only 12 of the 15 (last years champ is seeded #1) low scores were able to play. Those who qualified but didn't play were pushed to the back 14, 15, and 16 seeds. Apparently no one was aware of this until after the first round, which has now been completed.Our field has been cut from 16 to 8, and now there are grumblings that they want to re-seed the tournament again and start the round of 16 over.

 

Am I nuts for saying that the tournament has started, finish it? I seem to be in the minority.

Sounds like your club's pro needs to grow a pair & run the show. Good gravy!

Big time. No solution appeases everyone. I was one seed, played a guy who was seeded 16 but should have been 6 or 7. We both played a harder opponent than we should have. Was a hard fought match that came down to 17th hole.

The re-seeding tournament seems like it was a poor decision by the president of the association. If you play 2 rounds and determine the seeds that way I get it, or a tourney to determine the seeds makes sense, but both is asking for trouble

 

As for the tee issue that is laughable, 8 yards per hole is causing a frenzy? Re pro's may change by 80 yards on a single hole during a tournament

Was there anything written (paper and/or email) that explained in advance how it would be run, reseeding and expectations in advance (vs how things had been done in the past)?

 

If expectations were announced and handed out ahead of time, those that didn't make it have zero recourse. It is what it is and roll with it, and if they don't like it, run for Prez next year and do things their way.

At beginning of year 2 qualifying dates were announced. After the second round, an email came out Thursday night stating that Sunday's round (a blind abcd) would also be a reseeding due to complaints of course set up.

 

3 guys could not be there on 3 days notice and got put back to the last 3 seeds.

A bunch of mistakes starting with allowing another reseeding round after the second qualifying round. This is not going to end well.

Wow....you are right. The tournament should have been left alone. The way it is going now, you need to have a bunch of beer involved. That should make it a whole lot better!! :vava:

Eventually, common sense prevailed and it was decided that the mistakes would stop with the reseeding tournament. The tournament was left alone with the screwed up seeds. Being the one seed, I have played three matches against guys who should have been seeded 6, 4, and 7...so much for the easy road for the champ.

I have seen lots of formats and missteps with these. As another poster said play from the back tees for the club, send the players out and may the best score win. Too much creativity and nonsense in these I feel anymore. Leave that for the other events.
