For those who have replied to this topic, what shafts do you guys have? After the initial fitting, I've narrowed down the range to at least knowing that I need a mid-high launch around 50-60 grams. For the deal I got on callaway preowned, it came with the Kuro Kage which fits but I can always change swap that out at a later time.

 

 

I recently ordered one from Callaway Prewoned as well with the Kuro Kage shaft. Haven't had a chance to take it on the course. But, I have "tested" them with that shaft and I seem to hit it well. That is why I ordered it.

I have tried to knock the GBB out of my bag, but can't find anything better. I have tried the Epic, M1, M2, Cobra's and Ping's. GBB just is a performer. Especially if you fade the ball, the GBB is a bit draw biased. Shaft has a lot to do with it. I think you will really enjoy the GBB and it is a great value right now.

 

Same problem here - cant kick it out. Now moine is a tour issue head at a tour only loft but nothing is beating it. I even bought the sub zero sure it would win and while it did on avge ballspeed it lost on dispersion and workability , hence the bertha still strongle planted in the bag

Has anyone compared spin rates on the 2015 gbb vs the epic? Currently play g30ls and hit the regular epic which was incredibly straight but spun a bit too much. Did the 2015 version spin more/less/ same ? Assuming same shaft and loft

 

I have the gbb and tested the epic sub zero a few weeks back with the same shaft.

Mine spins at about 2400 whilst the sub zero is about 2100 -2200 so it did go a little further.

Have the 815 Alpha, GBB and the standard Epic. All three are very good drivers. For me, the 815 and GBB are more draw biased and the Epic is straight, REALLY straight. The Epic spins less and is a bit longer.

The GBB with Kuro Kage is a great driver. It took a few range sessions for me to dial it in, but once I did, it performed great. Even poor hits are only a few feet into the rough. I don't recall the last time I actually lost a ball off the tee with the GBB.

GBB with Fuji Speeder. It's a good looking driver at address. Perfectly simple. I wouldn't play an Epic unless it was an all black head from the custom shop. The pin stripping looks so tacky to me.

I tried several shafts and settled on a Diamana WB which keeps the flight from getting too high and lowers spin some. Just the fact that this combo has been in my bag for almost two years is testament enough. I was literally changing drivers every month or two but now I don't even consider getting another driver.

I got the GBB earlier this year and have been nothing but elated with it. I have a slight draw ball flight so I went full fade to start and it was a slice for me. I have it set half between neutral and fade, the flight is VERY neutral for me. I don't know if I lucked out with the head but I am one happy customer!!

Just got my GBB from Callaway Preowned yesterday. Anxious to try it out this weekend. "Very good condition" and looks like it's been used for a round.

I've really enjoyed my GBB....though I've never hit the Epic so I can't really compare. I did come from an Alpha 815 and I can definitely confirm that the GBB is longer for me. Only thing I don't love is the sound, but I think at the end of the day it comes down to whether you prefer the more muted or non-muted sound. I have mine paired with my trusty AD-DI6s shaft

Demo'd a GBB epic sub zero on my golf trip last week. Not a fan. I have a fade swing and the SZ just magnified the flight into an outright miss. I realize that its not all the club, but the 15' gbb helps keep me straight. When I did connect with one, the distance gain was minimal to hardly noticeable. I did however prefer the feel of the sub zero as the gbb can feel hard at times when not struck out of the middle. Sound was a little better too with the SZ. Not enough to get me to change though. Might give the reg GBB epic a shot at a later date. Currently searching for a second sliding weight!

GBB Diamana Blue Board 60X. Best driver I have played in a while. I agree with some that the sound off the face is not my favorite. But I am getting used to it, which is even easier from the middle of the FW! Hope you enjoy the new stick, it has definitely been great for me.

Still in my bag as well.

I play a natural draw and have to put the weights on a tad fade bias.

Very forgiving and long....for me.

Picked one up from CPO this spring. Think I finally got the weight to offset my natural draw plus the draw bias of the club. Hit some bombs this past weekend. Also paired with a blue board. Most accurate I've found in recent memory.

I had both and the confidence I get from the epic is a big difference. Also, the sound and feedback you get from the epic are much greater than the gbb.

 

Looking to get $200

Any insights on how it compares to the GBB Epic that's currently out? Any significant differences?

This may sound stupid but I just got my GBB and it seems like the sliding weight is stuck. I unscrewed it but "sliding" the weight is literally impossible. Anyone else run into this issue?

Great driver. I picked one up with the Speeder from CPO to tinker with, and I really don't notice any real differences on the course vs the Epic I was fit into. The matte black finish with the black shaft seems to really help me focus.

If you got it used, someone may have glued in down. These have a tendency to strip, so someone may have had that issue and just decided to glue it rather than getting a replacement from Callaway.

Tested mine on the range today. Hit high big bombs with it. 13.5 degree kuro kage regular shaft. Liking it and a great deal from callaway preowned

I actually just found this out from stumbling into his WITB link and saw that he does have the GBB. And then I clicked through on his setups since 2015. He really is one of the few players that plays whatever works for him no matter how old or what brand the club is. (With the exception of his Srixon/Cleveland irons and wedges.)
