The golf club that you regretted selling or trading

Two sets of Mizuno MP-30 irons. By far the best irons I've ever played. Had to sell them when I needed cash on separate occasions. I still look on ebay now and then, but they never come up in good condition left-handed. I also regret selling my Titleist 905T and Ping G15 drivers. They were great. I do still have my Cobra X-Speed Pro driver though. I have dillusions that one day I'll be able to hit it like I used to. Lol.

When I was in my early 20's (mid 1990s) another guy around my age would golf at the course I played at. He had a Ping Anser (1970s model, nothing overly great, but perfect shape) that he used from his grandpa's bag. He wanted a new putter, I wanted his old putter. So I offered to trade him for any putter in the pro shop. I purchased him a brand new Odyssey or something and we traded. We were both very happy. Fast forward to about 10 years ago and I'm chasing my kids around a local practice facility and I run into this guy. We talk for only a minute, he mentions he wishes he never made the trade back then. I hadn't thought of that club for some time, but it is still in the attic. After chasing my kid down to the putting green, I look for this guy, but he is gone. Dang. Of course the trade was/is not in question. But if I ever see this guy again, I will gladly give him his grandfather's putter back. We traded way before either of us ever would have considered/thought of anything sentimental about a golf club...

Great story 57, i'm sure he would be ecstatic to get that old ping back.

I have a similar story, I was a big ping fan in my youth, couldn't afford a Ping eye2 iron set so i bought a Ping Pal 2 beryllium copper putter. First time out with it i 3 putted a few greens, one of the older fellows i was playing with had a Zebra putter. He was dropping puts and suggested i try it, i started dropping putts as well. After the round i bought a Zebra. I gave my brother the Ping. Well i 3 putted every green for the next 10 yrs with that Zebra. My brother was a hockey player and has moved around the country many times, i always asked what the heck did u do with that Ping putter i gave you? He always answered he was not sure where it went. I was upset with myself for giving that Ping away for many years, and had given up hope of ever getting it back.

3 years ago i lent out a bunch of my surplus gear to my brother in law to tryout. Keep what you like give me back what your not using. After a few months go by i went over to grab the surplus gear. He hands me an armful of stuff then goes into his bag and grabs a putter and says i'm going to play the Cleveland u gave me so u can have this old putter. I look down and its my old Ping pal bc. In perfect condition. My brother had given it to him and forgot about it. 30 plus years later and i finally got it back. Sweet!!

UDI 2 driving iron. I bought it new for $75 bucks on ebay. I hit it great off and on for a season, then went back to my Cobra hybrid because it was working better. So I trade the UDI for a nice little 3 wood, figuring: A) the UDI is worth less than $75 now obviously since it's used and I'm getting a good deal on the trade, and, B) I could pick up another one for less than $75 down the road if I want to go back. Little did I know that the 2 was going for over $200 because they're so freaking awesome. I don't even like the 3 wood and can probably get $50 bucks for it now, and of course I'm hitting my long irons like a champ now and am missing it dearly, but I just can't bring myself to effectively pay $300 all things considered for another one.

On a side note, I'm using a Ping Eye 2 3i for my driving iron and have been hitting that thing just as far, but the feel is like hitting a pool ball with a tire iron.

I miss that club still and loved the feel of the Accra SC series. If I were able to get my hands on an SC75 and SC95, I would probably still play them.

Mizuno MX-200 irons... I don't regret replacing them but, based on what I got in trade, I wish I'd kept them for the backup bag. I've definitely gone through more backup iron sets than anything else in the last 2 years... I come across a great deal on something I want to try and then move them along (usually at break even or profit). I'd like to tell myself that if I'd just kept the MX-200s as backups they'd still be there but, honestly, a HO's gonna HO and it's easier (i.e. less destructive) to do it with clubs that aren't gamers.

I regret not getting used to the chunky look of the Mizuno JPX-EZ Forged... they were probably the easiest to hit irons I've ever had while maintaining decent feel, but I couldn't overcome the look of the short irons at address. They look great in the bag (fabulous fit and finish) and even at address in the long irons, but from the 8i down (and especially the Pw and Gw) I just couldn't handle the chunky look. My current Forged Tecs are close enough in terms of forgiveness and I can stomach looking down at them MUCH more.

I’ve got about 6-10 of my late grandfathers putters and I know exactly how he must have felt. I don’t game any of them right now but the ones I’ve regripped I’ve even left his old return address stickers on as an homage.....

The kicker is he gave away a 2-L set of BeCu Eye 2’s about a year before I got serious about the game......

My Vapor Fly iron set. I hadn't had any lessons and was still trying to get the slightest grasp on my terrible swing, I saw my current iron set brand new and very cheap so I traded in for the Rocketbladez. Don't get me wrong, I am in love with my Rocketbladez set but I just wonder what could've been

Not so much the clubs, but there are a couple shafts that I let walk out the door when I sold/traded clubs and that I immediately wanted back. It would have cost me almost as much to re-buy the shaft as the amount I got for the club that I sold. One of them was to a buddy of mine who absolutely loves the club, and every time I see it I want to tell him I made a mistake and need to swap out the shaft.

Has anyone regretted getting rid of a club so much that after some time goes buy you actually think you made a mistake & then you repurchased it.

I dumped my Cobra Long Tom 2 wood some time ago but missed it so much I bought it again...twice in case something happened to it I would have a spare.

Yes and yes.

I traded a Byron Morgan solid copper 006 "Makers Proof" #4/5 made. It's funny because I actually located it this week on a putter forum and sent PayPal tonight and bought it lol.

And the only other clubs I sold and really wish I hadn't was a set of Scratch EZ1/AR1 combo set with a smoked satin finish (which came stock on their 1018 wedges). Those are the only 2 clubs I regret getting rid of, but at least I got 1 of them back
