2021 Lefty Bag- The putter is filth

So, I wanted to bring in another putter, something to rival the Byron and LaJosi

I have always had my eyes on a tour betti for quite some time, but the costs have just been too high! Well I found a middle ground, with a Betti Tour Stock (not quite a full tour putter, but from the same department and has DASS as well!).

Only used it for one round, head weight it slightly lighter than the Byron and its .5 inches shorter (something I wanted to try), but it went well! Distance control seemed to improve a bit? That might be the grooves on this perhaps?

Anyway, shes in the bag for now!

Few changes to the top of the bag;

Got a new Mavrik SZ driver coming in, to test against the standard head. I think on course the standard head is spinning too much versus what the numbers are suggesting, I seem to lose the ball a lot into wind, so will be doing some side by side tests against the two.

Cobra Speedzone didn't work out for me, I couldn't put my finger on it, but I just couldn't get on with it. I actually think it was the head shape a little, it just didn't inspire confidence for me. This has now been replaced by a Ping G410, which I much prefer. I think its the smaller sole to crown size maybe? Sound wise, it is very different to what I am used to! Will experiment with shafts over the coming weeks.

Taylormade GAPR did well, but I got to hit the new Sim UDI and it is just simply better. I don't know if many people have done side by sides on them, but the UDI is a LOT more forgiving in my eyes. I got the stock Thumper shaft in it, which I seem to really like, it makes it feel more like a traditional iron which I much prefer. I also went from a 2 iron to a 3 iron, which I think feels the gap a lot better, I can still step on it and get it to 2 iron distances, but just the slightly higher ball flight helps me into greens. It also looks really sexy too! Behind the ball is a lot better as well.

 

I have just bought a back up putter too, got a mega deal on an old school Ping Redwood Anser to use over the winter period, to save the Betti a bit.

every nike shoe I had the sole separated from the body. I guess the glue they use doesnt like hot garages. Never happened with callaway, FJ, UA or Puma. Maybe they changed the glue in the last few years

I think you are right, I don't know if it was just me as well but the spikes on them wore down twice as quick as any other golf shoe I have ever owned? Maybe the sole design? I absolutely love the look of their shoes, but I won't be buying any of their spiked models again I don't think, spikeless for the summer perhaps. The FJ's have been faultless so far!

Yes sir! Love at first sight and at first hit! They aren't going anywhere anytime soon! I am probably down 5 yards in distance per iron compared to some other cavity back sets I have owned, but that doesn't bother me, these go the same distance every time and thats what I wanted

New SZ is in, had my first round with it on Saturday and overall I think its a much better fit for me than the standard Mavrik head. It is a lot longer for me for sure, I was keeping up with people who I am normally no where near which is nice. I did take it out with the stock Rogue white X stiff though, probably too stiff for me, kept losing the ball right because of the shaft weight I think, so I will swap in my HZRDUS Smoke this weekend and see how it gets on

So last part of the puzzle (for this year at least) was sorting out a back up putter, mainly because the weather over here is pretty pants and I just love my Betti and wanted to protect it.

So I got my hands on a Ping Vault 2.0 Dale which is just stunning, and having had the B60 Vault 2.0 previously I knew already that it would feel great and suit my eye.

But it didn't really stop there! I then started looking into the Stability Tour putter shafts, and the next thing I know both the Betti and the Ping both now have Stability Tour shafts! They are now both playing at 34", same grips, same weights roughly, so I am good to go for winter golf! Love these grips as well!

Yeah I love it! But I dont really have another type of face they make to compare it too really. But compared to the other nice putters I have had in the past, this is easily the best performing putter I have had, plus now the stability in it as well! Can't wait for some good weather!

Two rounds this weekend, first round (and first shots back from lockdown) wasn't great, but the courses right now are also extremely wet as well! 
Second round (at the same course as the first round) and I shoot +2, so a lot better! Felt like a completely different golfer! Putter shaft felt real good and actually a big shout out to the SM8 wedges, they were superb!

Also found a local guy making some great leather products, so I got him to make a divot tool and ball marker holder

Ok so the 6.0 experiment has not gone well, so I have sold it and purchased something else. More to come next week when it turns up! But its safe to say I won't be going to a mallet style for a while! Sticking with blade for quite some time I think!

Can't wait to see the next experiment will be, you're always gaming some nice flat sticks.

I suspect the Lockdown has had some good and maybe more not so good influence on many golf bags.  Golfers that were NOT club ho's found themselves buying this or that just to keep themselves in something like a game.

 

What happens post lockdown to that bag will be the real measure, to ho or not to ho... 😛

I have always been a closet ho really! But yeah lockdown just gave me that time to properly think about the bag really!

Very nice, one day I'll land a BBZero but will have to find one with a flow or slant neck so that may be never.

New driver has turned up. Shaft is TBC but for the moment I have a Tensei Blue laying around to try in it for now. I am hoping to get back to my days of having that F9 in the bag, probably the best I had driven the ball in years. The Mavrik SZ has been mega long for sure, but it can be off the planet on the wrong day

Yeah I can't wait to get using it! Annoyingly I had ordered up a new stability tour all black shaft, but it didn't come with the right tip! So been waiting for that first before I properly use it! Almost there now, so hope to have it ready to go in a week or two
