Tour level irons that were killed from retail availability when TM bought Adams.

 

TM bought Adams because TM stole face slot tech from Adams. Anybody remember the "+17"? Adams had patented the "slot" technology in irons and woods,.... see you in court time.

 

TM made an offer that Adams couldn't refuse. The Microsoft school of growth. Can't beat them, .....then buy them.

 

These irons have the first slot tech, up to the 7. 8 on up are usual cavity back. Solid.

maybe he meant it because of the shaft options???? ya I'd have to say, my A12 pros are way more "unicorn" than these things. nice irons but definitely better Adams offerings out there for less, and forged.

Hmmmmmm,....the hybrid inventor had the "see you in court" paperwork ready to go. TM needed the IP as they had gone dry in R&D. They made Barney A an offer he couldn't refuse.

For a while these were talked up as ultra rare, less than 500 sets made or so. They were hard to find in stores, mine only had a few that sold quickly. Many re-sold above 1k on eBay. Eventually the rest of the supply hit the market through the usual discount and liquidation resellers like rbg and budget golf and the market tanked. I know I bought a set below the listed sale price here.

I'm pretty sure these were at a local Kmart that was closing. Could've bought a set for $39 but passed :-)

I got a set year and a half ago at RBG for $123, or something like that. Love them! Not the thinnest top line, but not too bad (I've played S58s and Wilson Fi5s before them). Some people complained about the finish coming off, but I haven't had that problem.

Pretty positive Barney was long gone from Adams at that point. It's more fun to think that Taylormade bought their way out of court, but that's not really the case here.

Finish wears weird, chips and they feel like crap too.

 

I have a set still, use as my guest clubs. They have a tingy noise to them as well...wanted to like but they were poor at best.

I meant that there is no face slot in these irons.

These were blown out in component version for around $25/head from DiamondTour as well, so you could easily build them on whatever shafts you wanted. Same was true for the XTD Forged which I'd hold in higher regard than these.
