Love the long term goal, I love that about this game, there is no urgent time issues to freak out about, give me a 3 year goal. Obviously, along the way there should also be a tonne of short term goals, perhaps put up a short term goal. Try to be process based with your goals, not results based.

 

I'm not a swing coach, but I think you could squat down more in transition putting your left arm out in front of your body more as you rotate back to the ball.

Two suggestions:

 

1. On the downswing, go with a slightly more bowed left wrist.

 

2. If you pause your swing at the impact position, your left shoulder seems to have not rotated enough. Check out tour pro swing sequences and pause them at impact. It seems like their shoulders have rotated just the slightest bit more than yours at impact.

 

Take what I'm saying with the hugest grain of salt. Your swing seems pretty good as it is and as such I'm not sure it's wise to change a thing... but maybe those two suggestions might get you a little more distance, which generally does correlate to lower scores lol!

The slightly bowed left wrist should take care of the slice IMO. The bowed left wrist along with a little more shoulder rotation, "opening up" as you say, could be complementary moves that compensate for each other?

 

I like your balance in the swing, and I recently saw Jack Nicklaus say that he dislikes the "squatting" move that Justin Thomas (and others) sometimes has... he thinks it's a source of inconsistency. He said Thomas hit his best shots when his head didn't move (meaning he didn't squat down, which dropped his head level) and he just rotated.

 

At the end of the day, I feel as though I'm really nitpicking here. Whatever changes you do make, it seems like they should be only incremental in nature. There's good rotation, good balance, little head movement, no over-swinging... all good things!!!

Yes, could absolutely be complementary moves. I can like the idea of having one move that "reminds you" of another. Like, because I have this feeling in my hands I must remember to have this feeling in the wind up. Will try it...it's a looong winter coming up...

Swing looks really good! You may or may not have a nit pick or 2, but nothing I would even comment on without either video from a better spot, and face on or being in person.

 

Instead, you will probably be better concentrating on course management, short game, putting and the like.

 

What is your game like right now? What are your strengths and weaknesses? Are you still experiencing the pulls and slices?

This is as low as I can go :) No problems hitting it higher, but we play in A LOT of wind, so I'm always making sure I can keep it low. For a 13 degree wood off the mat, working on keeping it low, I think it's in the window I want to see it.

On long game, just continue to work on fundamentals. 80% of the golf swing happens before you move- grip, alignment, ball position, set-up. That will keep you consistent.

 

On short game, must install a minimum of a 2:1 or even 3:1 rule. For every hour on the long game, two or three hours on your short game. Must be able to have creativity and different shots around the green depending on lie, distance to carry, green to work with, etc. After all that, putting putting putting.

 

As a 1 now (trending 0.5), I really work much more on my short game than long game. Usually hit balls for maybe 10-15 minutes, just going through my routine of basics (eg, really like how you use an alignment tool in your videos) then go down to the short game area hitting bunker shots, pitches and chips, then hit a lot of putts.

Work on your short game like a maniac

 

Work on eliminating one side of the course off the tee

 

Learn to hit short irons at differing trajectories

 

Learn to travel well with your cap ie don't just play well at your home club

 

Develop a fairway finder shot for tight holes ie choke down driver or stinger 3w or whatever suits your fancy

 

What is your current cap? What course is that? What country?

 

I haven't been a + in 25 years but recall vividly what I worked on to get there

What cardoustie said above - can't stress this one enough - Work on eliminating one side of the course off the tee. Figure out which side that is for you. I've rarely seen anyone approach scratch with a two-way miss.
