Looking for a special round for a friend

I know this is a bit vague, but I'm looking to find a course within 2 hours of Southbury, CT (Southwestern CT) to bring a golf buddy of mine next week/weekend. He wants to go somewhere he hasn't played, and the pro at my course is willing to try and get us on somewhere private if I let him know where.

 

Places that he ruled out because he has played already include: TPC River Highlands, Crumpin Fox, Waterbury CC. Looking for somewhere under $200 per person, so that rules out Ferry Point regardless of politics.

 

Any suggestions? Anyone wanna play with a 10 HCP and a scratch golfer next week/weekend? Anyone want to play Wolf Hammer?

edit to add: He's from Florida, but used to live up here for about as many years as I've been alive. So I imagine he's played quite a few places.

Don't have great ideas - for Mass public places, Taconic (probably a bit more than 2 hours) and The Orchards (probably a bit over an hour) come to mind as good options.

 

But, I would push for Yale. Fantastic place and particularly strong in the fall and a reasonable drive I suspect. Not sure how difficult it is to get access to (i've been fortunate enough to have been invited rather than have to figure it out,) but your pro should know

Yale is a great choice (if you can get on).

Greathorse (former Hamden Country Club) is intriguing - brand new, and I've heard very little about it. I'd be surprised if you can't get on with a call.

Taconic is as good as it gets.

Silo Ridge is a new-ish Tom Fazio course in Amenia NY - again, might be able to get on with a call.

Trump National Hudson Valley; also private, probably call-able, probably super expensive.

+1 for Yale. Some others you may want to consider are Great River, Lake of Isles or Fox Hopyard.

Great river is a decent option, I have played there but he has not. He has played both others, but I am looking into the possibility of getting on Lake of Isles South (private) course.

Looks like we're going with Lake of Isles South. Pretty excited as I've never played it. Who knows, maybe Ill take him for a couple bucks and then we can hit the casino afterwards.
