Big chunky mallet putter - recommendations please!

Please recommend me some big chunky mallet putters to look at.

 

Much prefer a mallet and the chunkier the better, I also quite like "different" so I'll also consider anything "wacky". I am not a huge fan of the feel of Odyssey inserts.

I carried a Big Bee Xcelerator to the course yesterday. It fits your criteria. Big, bold, beefy block of milled aluminium. Easy to align.

The TaylorMade Tour Spider rolls the ball nicely, I’ve tried it in store a few times now. Black with no sight line.

The PING Sigma G Wolverine is a beast. It's packed with MOI and putts a lovely roll on the ball. I also think its looks like the Spider Tour's frisky and wild sister.

Really? That's crazy. I found out today that there is a store that has the PING Vault Bergen about a 90 minute drive away from where I live.

I'm going to roll it next weekend and decide whether I like the Bergen or Wolverine more.

I'll buy the one that I sink more putts with but I'm hoping that the Wolverine will come out on top.

You're going to get a lot of opinions.

 

I think the V-Line is about as good as it gets. It's a larger mallet, had great alignment aids and is available in a few different models.

I really like the looks of the Cadence TR Ketsch and Rustler. They're similar in shape and size and not overly huge...

TM Big Fontana is actually a great putter. Puts an awesome roll on the ball. I also fared well with a few of the Ping Scottsdale high moi mallets like the Y Worry and Wolverine. They had quite a few other big mallet styles in that line too. Manta and Ping Sydney are also good options.

Many thanks for all the replies. For those who recommended the Ping Ketsch please go to the top of the class. Purchased one today.

 

It came down to a toss of the coin between the Ping Cadence Ketsch and the TaylorMade OS Spider CB, both were very nice to putt with but overall I think the Ping had nicer acoustics and was less busy on the eye. That said the TM was a great roll also.

 

Almost instantly dismissed both the Ping Vault Bergan and Oslo putters after less than a handful of putts. Dull feel (subjective I know) and very unresponsive off any putt not hit bang on the money. Was actually very disappointed in it for a premium offering. The Sigma range was nicer off the face but looked "cheap". Can't really explain that other than for the money it just didn't feel or look like top premium materials. The Wolverine was very nice, easy to line up and was a nice putter, however what put me off that was that I can see the grass through the putter! Why that is an issue I have no idea but it was just a factor that lead to it being discounted from the equation. The Darby was nice and was the third last putter to be shelved.

 

The Ketsch, well it just sits beautifully and was very easy to align. The feel was great, toe and heel strikes (deliberate) still rolled well and genuinely didn't feel like they were poor putts. Managed to get a good price too so I look forward to getting this out onto the course later this week. May hunt for a bargain TM on eBay for a back up, think the wife would go mad if I bought two putters in one day!

Cure Putters...lots of, "WTF is that looks" but I love mine. Adjustable lie angle, weighting, and extremely high MOI. If you like the feel of a heavy putter and don't mind the odd look worth a shot. Can be had for a good deal on Rock Bottom Golf last time I checked.

Was about to do the same. I have one in the collection. Chunky. What weight did you go for. I have found the feel of this putter is very responsive to grip changes too. A "big" grip and a lightweight traditional grip create a different beast. This applies with many just that I noticed it more with the Ketch
