Gilbert AZ Courses

I'm traveling to Gilbert for a bball tournament and was planning on playing some golf afterwards. Are there any courses worth playing or should I just drive up to Scottsdale? Thanks ahead of time!

Almost everything in Gilbert is going to be in a residential neighborhood. If you just want to play (non destination golf) then Trilogy at Power ranch is cheap and ok golf. If your pro calls out to Seville (Private) you can probably get on. They are Club Corp and usually dont turn away an extra buck. IMO it is a step up from trilogy. Not too much else of note in Gilbert. Depending on where you are other cheap options to consider Toka Sticks (former Air Force course) very open but bland, Lonetree, very run of the mill residential course, Bear Creek a typical muni. I cant in good conscience recommend Western Skies or Kokopelli, but there are some who enjoy playing there. Southern Dunes is a straight shot to the West. That is worth the drive. I can usually get there from my home in Gilbert in half an hour depending on the time of day. I have some close friends who are members at Seville, PM me if that fits better than southern Dunes. What dates are you looking to be here?

Ironically...I'll be visiting my sister in Gilbert in November. Last year, the wife and I drove out to play Southern Dunes in Maricopa and it was quite enjoyable. This year...I plan to drive north to We Ko Pa (Saguaro).

Thanks for the recs! Coming in next Friday. I think we're going to play wekopa Friday since we have no games then try to play something close by Saturday maybe Sunday during late twilight. I'll use you recs to decide . Thanks again !

I've played wekopa ( both courses) twice and loved it doing out there again .Troon north was my second fav out there. Have fun!

FYI next friday most of the courses in Gilbert will still be just coming out of overseed. Currently Seville and Trilogy are closed. It usually is very poor conditions for about a month after opening. Look for a course that has been opened the longest. Most likely cart path only, with very shaggy greens and very wet. Here is a link to a sorted overseed schedule based on when the course re-opened (thanks to fellow WRX'r puttnforthe8). Try to find one that has been open at least a few weeks.

Another middle of the road course that has one of the three 9's open since mid october is Ocotillo golf club. It is in Chandler, but not far away and may be the best (still poor) conditions you will find in the Gilbert area. It is wall to wall grass, no desert golf, you could mistake it for Florida. It has 27 holes, but keeps 18 open at all times during overseed. If I just wanted to get out and play close, considering the conditions, this would probably be my choice.
