2018 PGA Tour Predictions Thread

Give me your predictions for the PGA Tour in 2018. This encompasses everything between the Tournament of Champions and the Ryder Cup. Here are some of mine...

 

U.S. Open will have a 18 hole playoff on Monday

Tiger will make the cut in 2 of 4 majors

Tiger will have 2 Top 10 Finishes this season

Lock for a Win: Rickie Fowler

Lock for not winning any event: Henrik Stenson

There will be a back 9 meltdown in a major this year

Spieth nabs 1 major and 3 wins

Breakout Player: Bryson DeChambeau

Player of the Year: Rickie Fowler

It will be the same as last year!...With the the occassional breakouts here and there. Look for Sneds to shine some more light after taking many months off, I think he will be ready come Torrey Pines time. Jason Day will poop out, but the media will continue to inflate him for whatever reason. Dustin Johnson, Jordan Speith, Hideki Matsuyama to have very big years. Justin Thomas maybe so, so. Believe it or not, I think that Keegan Bradley will have a good somewhat consistent season. Beware of Kevin Chapell to be in the hunt almost every time with his Miura Giken's unless he changes and continues to change, then it will spell trouble. I don't think we will hear Pat Perez's name for a while once we get started into the actual 2018 season. Tiger Woods drop in and out. That's all I have at this point.

I'll throw a couple out there. I think DJ wins another major. I think Ollie will be the breakout star this year, I'll give him 3 wins. Tiger will play 10+ events

I predict 32 first time Major Championship winners: Rahm, Matsuyama, and Fowler.

I think Matsuyama's best shot is the US Open, then the USPGA. Rahm could get any of them.

I agree with Jasonc44 that Ollie Schniederjans looks likely to have a good year.

 

Oh, and if Matsuyama does win a major, then the amount of coverage in the Japanese press will make the average Tiger-related GolfWRX thread look like damp squib.

Beef wins the Masters and says Arbys will be catering the 2019 Champions Dinner.

 

Jim Furyk shoots 59 at the US Open and the USGA is pissed.

It might be more likely than Hogan irons are re-named after the greatest golfer from the country of Texas, with the new brand being SPIETH irons.

Couple wins for JT, 3 or 4 for Spieth and Rory will figure it out a get back to major winning ways.

 

Phil will get really close to winning but won't, Tiger will get really close to playing but won't and everyone will think that the US will win the Ryder Cup but won't.

 

In amongst all of it, the ball will almost certainly go to far!

I’m looking for Kuchar to strongly contend at the Masters.

Jason Day back in form to start the year, gets hurt again by June.

The young guns ( Spieth, Thomas, etc.) dominate all the big tournaments, and a few of the older players win a smaller event here and there, creating mild excitement here.

 

Langer finishes ahead of Tiger Woods at the Masters.

 

Gary Player will mention how many miles he has flown in his lifetime.

 

Chesson Hadley snaps his fingers after making a birdie and fractures three phalanges.
