Best Ways to Get Competitive Green Fees

Every year I plan 4 days of golf for our foursome from Wisconsin. We usually visit in early Feb which is considered peak season, but is before the baseball crowd comes in. My question to the experts on this forum is:

 

"What are the ways you'd recommend to find the best deals at some of the better courses"?

 

The methods I've used in the past are:

 

- Standard websites such as Supreme which covers Golf Now, Tee Off, etc..

- The last few years Deal Caddy (GolfNow) has sold coupons for $50 worth $100 on their Hot Deals tee times but they seem to jack up the rates to offset much of the coupon.

- Check the course websites for discounts but these seem to be getting more rare especially in February.

 

Last year we played Verrado Founders, Wickenburg Ranch, Los Cabelleros and Dove Valley. Rates ranged from $50 - $80 but deals are getting tougher to find.

 

Got any other suggestions?

Youv'e pretty much covered it. As you know you're coming at a peak time. Might be some savings in buying a Troon card or We-ko-pass, others here would know better.

 

That time of year I'm using the city card while walking Papago, GCU and Aguila to keep $$$ down.

Those rates for those courses in Feb is terrific. How much more do you want? I’d say Dove Valley at over $50 is no good, but I’d take what you are paying and run to the first tee in February.

One thing I have done is called the course and tell them your situation. Let them know that you and 3 buddies are coming in from out of state and want to know if there are any deals or anything they can do for you. If your flights and everything are booked even offer to prepay 1/2 or something just to give them piece of mind as well.

Pretty much. I did my bacherlors thing at a course last year and even though I’m local I called and said i had 3 buddies coming into town for the event and the guy did like $15 off per greens fees. The worst they can say is no.
