Sergio playing in Australia and not in Hero?

I was just wondering why Sergio is playing in Australia and not in the Hero. Is this because he didnt get invited or he is just trying to make his minimum requirement European starts?

He qualified by winning The Masters and was invited to the Hero. Turned it down as other players have over the years. My guess is that Sergio got a huge appearance fee to play in Australia that is equal to if not greater than the first place price at the Hero. Here is the qualifying criteria for the Hero.

Do we know if Sergio was actually invited? Pat Perez should have been given an invitation based on OWGR, but he never was. The two people on Tiger’s hate list that should have played this week are Sergio and Pat. Pat wanted to play, but his February 2017 comments “Tiger knows he can’t beat anyone but is just playing due to sponsor obligations” certainly pissed Tiger off.
