Ok, seeing as I'm moving to steelfibers in the irons I decided - after getting a money price - to drop in some 125 stiffs in my Wrx grind 53 and 59 Glides

 

I wanted higher bounce wedges to bring to Florida for the winter to handle the pernicious Bermuda grasses and these will do the trick with my tour W 64. Threw some blue and orange colours on there w the grips and ferrules

Well today i decided more thinning of the heard was necessary and managed to unload some Adams wedges for a Circle T ball hat.

 

I also traded in my M4 driver and one of my 3 Craz-E putters (I keep going back to the '16 m2) for a 10* G400 LST. I can't resist a good deal

 

Didn't love the max but the twin has the same head and I loved it last Spring. Think it will be good ... plus I have 4 great shafts with Ping adapters to play around with it ... Purple Oban 55x, Aldila NL 60x, Addi 6x black and a tipped Xtorsion copper 60s.

The G400 LST just kicked the crap out of my '16 M2 at GolfZon. (Had an hour before our 8-some played Kiawah Ocean)

The purple Oban Kiyoshi 55x is a wicked shaft in this head. I had the head set at +0.6* fwiw. 46.25" .. d7 swingweight

 

It's weird that this head works so well for me and the Max doesn't

 

Anyways, next project is tossing a Ping adapter on the Kiyoshi gold I have for the 3w and a Callaway adapter on the Kiyoshi White that is also resting in the man cave .. for my GBB 5w

 

Also of note: the G400 three wood is stupid good. Twice I got home today from 265 ... I know it's a sim but this is 3 winters in a row and I know how the yardages work. The good news is the 3w was also money in October before the weather turned.

based on what I am reading on the Oban website it seems a Kiyoshi black 65x might be the ticket in the 3w due to similar profiles

 

any Oban graphite experts out there?

What shafts in 65x (3w) and 75x (5w) would partner well with the purple 55x in driver. A few years back I loved the 65x purple in a 7w but made a trade I regret

If you like the Purple 55x in the driver, the best bet is to stay with the Purple in a 65x in the 3 wood. The White doesn’t kick as much as the Purple and the White feels a little more stout.

 

I think you mentioned the Black earlier. For me the Black felt a little dead compared to the White. But, for me the Black tended to be more “straight” or accurate in the fairway. I just preferred the feel of the White and Purple more.

Will be picking up a Cally UT 30*. ((Thanks to some member here who's WITB caught my attention w UT's and a Miura 7-W set up.)) I AM SO WEAK !!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Anyways, grabbed an Apex Pro CF16 7i with a steelfiber 110s last night (2 flat). Deal was so good I couldn't ignore it on CPO

 

These two clubs will be very nice with my 8, 9 and PW x-proto blades in a back up set ... could be all Callaway from 3w right thru to GW! Just need a 56* and 62* and a driver.

I think the steelfibers will be keepers. The 110 felt great in my 8 and 9 and the 125 was awesome in my PW and SW. LW undecided.

 

I need to decide where the 110 and 125 break will be exactly after more playing time and I still don't have the 95s in my 6 iron yet

The Oban purple 55x is so good for me in the LST head. I marvel at how good this is vs how not good the max was.

 

Also loved the Oban White in the 5w, and decided to order the g400 five wood for it to go in ... fwy heads must match the driver you know, OCD to some degree I guess

 

Birthday eve today ... just grabbed an Oban Isawa 65x for the g400 3 wood off the bay. The gold in stiff is out ! All g400 and all Oban for 2019 !!!

Yeh I really like the idea of doing the split weights by yourself and giving you the flighted type set.

Question on all the testing, are you building components in the garage or taking them to a shop? Seems like so much regripping, bending, and tip adapter swaps.

Yup, the 3,4 and 5 are awesome. 2 is too low loft for me

 

The 3 in the bag now displaced my two favourite 7 woods ... and I love seven woods

 

The guy beside me on the range today had the TM-b 3 iron with the Ad Di 95x ... smoke show .. easier to hit than my T-mb six iron

Red tee birthday challenge at Windswept completed again today

 

81 from 7800. Not much roll, sea level, cool when I was first off at 730am ... 10*C

 

The par 4's killed me. Wore out the 3 wood. Couldnt reach far too many of them. 51 is not the new 30....

 

Missed 6 twelve foot par putts, Bermuda greens do NOT break. One double, no birdies

 

Local guy told me this area usually has 20 inches of rain per year ... 2018 is at 100" !!!

 

I can say the Glides are amazing greenside down here and the 125 SF are awesome in them from all yardages and partial shots

Defcon level 5 problem in the Panhandle. The fitter down here tossed Ping adapters on the Revenge and Isawa shafts for me. Told him to keep the Revenge in driver length as he has no Iomic grips.

 

Herein lies the rub .... Me thinks the Revenge 65x may be better than the Purple 55x in a driver. Stripe show today - was hitting high baby draws 275 down the pipe all day, which is very solid for me at sea level with non firm fairways.

 

What to do? 55x in 3w or hunt down my beloved purple 65x again? I know the answer, I am a weak man.

 

Side note: The rapture irons are easy breezy but a whisker pully. Lots of left side fringes today. Should resolve when flattened 3* when I get home. Love the 5 thru 7.

 

PS. I'm dropping three scratch rounds (two 72's and a 74) in the next 5 rounds from my cap, I'm gonna be a force in net games come April. How anyone can go low on Bermuda greens escapes me.

I think I hit 14 greens ystdy -if you include fringes - and shot 76. One birdie, a 3 footer on 17. Lowlite was knockdown wedge hitting 3" from the cup on 18 and then 3 jacking in front of a patio gallery of 30 from 12 feet above the hole. Hit It four feet too hard and a foot too far right. 36 on the back should've been 32. This of course is after the TN boys in front of me yapping to all their buds about the big hitter behind them (I hit over their heads on a par 5 dog leg by accident). Boy oh boy did they razz me on the three jack. Well deserved. Good fun.

 

How putts cannot follow slopes is a new trick for an old dog and of course the speed changes for into and down green putts are a riddle wrapped in an enigma and dark webbed by cypher

 

Hey at least I learned over the years to travel south w high bounce wedges
