When you get down here this spring this old fart will go to the tips with you for the heck of it. I guess I will have a lot of 3 woods into par 4s but I still hit it well enough I can hit that 3 wood and then wedge it up. Some of the par 3s down here I can see me hitting the same 3 wood or even a driver :partytime2:

well darn near 4 years later this prophecy came to fruit. Well sort of. I did at least play Indigo from the mid tees which there was enough for me in my current state of heath. And I darn near wore the old V-Steel 3 wood out.  But it was fun and for me like playing a different course.

These beasts are amazing. Here's hoping it's the same off of real grass

Dropping the matching nv105x shaft in the iwedge 50* GW tonite on the way home

Used the BeCu Zing 2 wedges today .... so ugly but so much fun !

That one you gave me is fun--- I can not hit it but about 40 yards or so just about as high as far-- Was messing around last Monday in the short game area between the range and 10th tee with that thing. Did use it one time yesterday on #9 for 3rd shot in and hit it to about 2 feet. LOL we birdied that hole and Barry remarked " If we had done that last week we would have won the whole shooting match hands down"  Played with him and another one of the guys on the original team Adam and his better half yesterday. All of us hit the ball good but could not get putts to fall. Bear and I sorta switched our line up with me first. Man we burned like 6 edges on putts could not get any to drop. We did manage -6 which did not mean squat. Believe this or not -13 won it. And I am not going there I know the team. They are some of my local members and some of those who wanted our original team broken up about the time I got hurt because we won like 6 straight. Two of those guys with their wives supposedly shot -5 in the nine and dine last week. We did call BS among our selves and chuckled about it. I really hit the driver well yesterday. On #10 I went straight up the chute between the trap and the 150 post scorched it. I had a 9 iron into that green Bear hit PW. I put it to 10 ft below the hole and we missed the putt all 4 of us. #17 went straight up the pike and nailed that one was down in the valley and hit 9 iron again to about 15 ft and we all missed the putt again. Now remember I was playing from my customary gold tees. Yeah it was like one of those days. Did not putt bad but could not get anything to fall. Went out to the shop last night and pulled out my old Cleveland 8802 style and one of my Ironmasters. I am going to see if I can get those to ride above the grain some for winter play.

Bear says when you get back in this neck of the woods he owes you a drink or something because one of your tips helped him immensely

Just saw this and finally got to using the new phone last night--- Saw you sent me a messge--- May go by Akers this afternoon after Church because no nap for me today I have to run a program tonight. LOL just found out about it last night ha ha. Ya know just call good old Stu in a pinch.

Played yesterday with Bear and had an older couple with us who were delightful. I had played with them before in a mixed doubles 9 and dine---- The lady had picked up a Bang O Matic Driver for $5 at a thrift store. Upon careful examination I discovered I had built that driver 15 years ago for a lady I knew at my old church. She hit it well and I was pleased to see it was still kicking after all these years.

I ended up benching Scotty and used the Old 8802 style Cleveland and putted lights out. We shot -10 and got beat by a team that supposedly shot -13 ( ha ha) I know and have played with all those guys at one time or another. I hit the driver great and we really played good as a team. Bear ended up hurting his back again and was really suffering the last 3 holes but--- Beware of the hurting injured golfer-- #14 the par 5 was our last hole and he blistered a drive and hit a 3 wood to 10 feet--- I made him putt and he made it Natural eagle!!!---- My ball striking was off bad with the irons directionally and distance---- I hit some hotties out of the fairway for some reason--- Bear says my ball striking is dead on that is why I am hitting the hotties. Kinda got into my head some and was not sure all day what to do on club selection. Going to see how the back holds up and if it does do not be surprised to see the old blades back in the bag. Really looking back my ball striking or shot placement was not all that bad did not miss greens all that much and would probably shot in the high 70s on my own ball as good as I was putting. You know there is a difference between playing your own game and a scramble--- If you are down we do have a New Years Day Scramble.

Edit-- I am surprised that the V-Steels were even on the floor one of the guys that works there is as passionate about V-Steels as I am--- If I get time I may run down there this afternoon

If they don’t close the border I am there New Year’s day, and could bring a d1 kid that is a +3 that flies it 300 (and very straight) with little effort if that sounds appealing to you

Plan now is to leave here 29th but if the US announces a border closing we are hopping in the truck

We need to be south for the Reno’s in FL

Two noteworthy things

the blue ventus 6x is a money maker in the g400 MAX .. straight and long

The SIM dhy is my new favorite club.  High draws, low fades.  Great off the tee and from the fairway and rough

So solid from 200

Really shines into the fan.   Two examples.  Played a 176 yard par 3 into 25 mph wind yesterday and hit a low fade to the back fringe.   I can’t keep my hybrids that low when I need it

Two days before, 18 is 435 into a heavy Zephyr, had 186 left, hit it 10 feet behind the hole.

Well it has been a while

I have two drivers I love now, the 400 max in my sig and the 400lst with the rip Phenom 50x

the s55’s crept back in (short irons anyway), no surprise

have fallen in love with steelfibers, finally a firm graphite with a kick I love ,,, that helps the elbows

I finally tried my whiteboard 63x in my g400 5w and oh baby is it a moneymaker, so stupid for not trying earlier … way better than my Blueboard 63x and Ahina 70x

the 7w hasn’t changed ,,, but my Fubuki combo’s in the 4 and 5h are tweaked perfectly, both sit at d9 … and are deadly .. the g400 4h is “new to me” … 215 and high I can handle

I want to stay full Diamana family but my tour issue matte finish Blueboard 53x for my drivers is a titch hooky when I go after it

changed all my lie angles to Ping black dot … at plus 1” … and the pelts are perfect dollar bills

4th in a big member guest last week, nice cash haul, game is mostly solid

have been hitting it very well by improving my hand path

Jeff I was tearing it up in Florida with a lot of 71-73 rounds, which for me is awesome off of Bermuda, then in my Hurricane Ian gardening cleanup mode I tore a left hip muscle … dug new 3x3’ holes for 11 assorted palm trees.   FFS, posting weakly on my left leg is costing me 3-6 shots per round.

even took down a top 10 WAGR senior !!

Oh well, buying g400 max backups like tic tacs

also got to play the awesome Calusa Pines, so I got that going for me

Converted s55’s to 110 cw steelfiber from 95g

the heavier shafts feel much better and is helping me shallow, more weight is being sensed thru the whole club and not just the head

s55 five and 6 irons added to bag as well

OG glide 47* cranked down to 44.5* back in as my PW and 50* bent to 49* back in as well

I find there's a point for me when too light a shaft brings all sorts of problems. I'm willing to take a little loss in head speed for a bit more "heft".

Slowly realizing that myself

I just kept thinking that my misses and feel were so much better with my wedges (that were all 110 and 125 SF)

Exactly!

I've a heavier shaft in my nice new shiny Artisan wedge, and it just makes so much more sense.

My #4 utility I was hitting all over the planet, but my 4i with a slightly heavier shaft I can hit straight (just can't always find the sweet spot...).

It's finding the drop-off point that's the hard part.

Was at a local shop yesterday and grabbed a mint Ping i210 red dot 6i for $34

will throw a steelfiber in her and see how she goes

had it bent to power spec before I left so at least the lofts are all aligned

the 6i slot continues to be the most contentious in my bag, to the point where I am testing my old tour issue Adams a10 28* hybrid with a Fubuki ax400 x in it

the 7-pw game continues to be much stronger with the 110cw shafts in them

So I’ve been screwing around with some older Daniel Berger Taylor Made cavity backs that I got for so cheap last Fall I couldn’t leave them behind

recoil 110 shafts

i gotta tell ya, for larger irons (lots larger than blueprints) these things are money in both turf interaction and soft feel

they also go right where I aim them and are workable both ways

here is my conundrum … they are not flying far enough, even though I strengthened them all 2* to get them closer to “modern” lofts.  It’s strange because the recoil 110’s did not spin it too much in my 919t’s

my set right now is s55 and blueprints blended …. The only issue with blue’s is that they aren’t great on slightly thin misses (like most hollows)

I did get a nice surprise at my fitters yesterday… r510 tp 8.5* driver in mint shape … $40 USD

oh mama, she’s long, and feels so much better than the newer stuff.  Only flaw is hooks on toe strikes, the newer drivers produce slight misses

nice find - I still keep a 320 Tour 8.5/Prolite - longest driver till this day. Like 25yds longer than anything....but as you say toe strikes🤪🤯
