I just booked a tee time for Spanish Bay this month. i am looking for one more course to play in the area. Looking for a nice course with a great price. (NCGA or Military discount).

 

I played Pebble Beach, Poppy Hills, Qual Lodge and Bayonet.

Did you book Spanish Bay with the NCGA special for $150 including cart and $75 retail gift card? Spyglass would be $225 with cart and $75 retail gift card. What day are you playing Spanish Bay? I'm playing Spanish Bay on Saturday 12/30

I did book it using the NCGA special. I am playing the 19th. I live about 3 hours away so looking to play another course near by.

Since you want to play at a good price and you've played PB, Quail, Poppy and Bayonet, what about Pacific Grove, Del Monte or Monterey Pines, Laguna Seca or on your way home there's San Juan Oaks?

Pac Grove (back 9 only) & Pasatiempo (golfnow, a bit of a drive but I like it better than Pebble, Torrey, whisper rock, streamsong...)

Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels to stay at in the area? Staying at one of the pebble resorts for two nights and looking to book for the other nights. Anyone recommend any AirBNB places?

I don't know of any AirBNB places but we've stayed at several properties in the area that you could check out.

Plaza Hotel & Spa, right on the water in Monterey, sometimes they have some good rates.

The Spindrift Inn on Cannery Row and a short walk to the Pebble Beach outlet store.

Mission Ranch Hotel, in Carmel but like being in the country and this is Clint Eastwoods place with a good restaurant.

Quail Lodge And Golf Club, sometimes has good rates. When we stay here we get what they call a cottage room with no one above and right next to the 14th fairway.

Hyatt Regency Monterey and Del Monte Golf Course is in the same vicinity.

If you want cheaper rooms then check the many properties on Munras Avenue in Monterey.

If you're looking to go cheap, the Days Inn Monterey Downtown, is a great value. It's an older motel that has been renovated. It's within walking distance to downtown and the wharf.

As for lodging, maybe venture down the coast and stay at Ventana Inn & Spa in Big Sur, or the Post Ranch Inn.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Definitely a little bit on the pricey side, but splitting a room with my father will help bring the costs down some. Saw a few BnBs that had great reviews and about 200 a night. More than likely going to go that route. We were going to do Cordevalle, but after Poppy, Pasatiempo, Pebble, Spanish, and Spyglass we are looking for some cheaper routes for the other two rounds. Going with Pacific Grove and Bayonet / BlackHorse. We have back ups if needed. Thanks for the recommendations everyone!

Yeah any one of those would make for a great outing! All of them at once is... Epic. FWIW CordeValle has a stay and play package I want to say its like $735 for One Night Stay, Golf for TWO, and breakfast! On the cheaper side, there is (Coastal) Carmel Valley Ranch, Seascape, Rancho Canada, DeLaveaga, and (Inland) SJ Oaks, Cinnabar, Coyote Creek, The Ranch, Eagle Ridge,

 

Its going to be hard to enjoy most of those after your dream list though. Carmel Valley Ranch, Bayonet/Black Horse, and Cinnabar, and SJ Oaks would be my personal 2nds...

I'm planning a PB trip for myself and a buddy. Hopefully next September, but due to work it may have to be in the summer which I know can be sketchy as far as fog/rain. I'm looking at getting a Dukes Club Membership as I understand with it PB and SB are $160 off. The NCGA special sounds even more of a savings. Is it limited to a time of year or are there other restrictions?

Duke's Club is $355 to join and is good for a year from the day that you join. With Duke's you can play Del Monte for $48 during the week and $62 on weekends and holidays. You can bring 3 guests for $63 and $77 although when you join you get 6 passes so that your guests pay the same as you. You also get $30 Del Monte dollars to use in the restaurant and you also get a 25% discount on merchandise at Del Monte Pro Shop including custom orders. You will get a free pass to play Peter Hay 9 hole course across the street from Pebble. For Spanish Bay your cost to play is $165 and you can bring 3 guests for the same price and Spyglass is $225 and you can bring 3 guests for the same price. You can only book 30 days in advance. You also get a 20% discount at the Pebble Beach and Spanish Bay restaurants up to 8 people including drinks. Now for the specials which is usually twice a year and Duke's is better than NCGA as we get the special emails one day before NCGA and a little better rate plus we can book 3 foursomes. The specials are usually July and then parts of December and all of January although these aren't guaranteed specials. Our current special from December through January is Pebble Beach is $385 with cart and $75 retail gift card, Spyglass is $195 and Spanish Bay is $130 both include carts and $75 retail gift card. Hey guys. Just got back from this area, spent week of new years in Monterey Bay area. The Portola Hotel has been redone and was home base for the week.

close to Wharf and Cannery Row. Played Black Horse. Greens are super fast and undulating. Bayonet is more challenging off the tee but easier on the greens. These are the courses for this years PGA Professionals championship in June. Watched the sun set at 'The Bench' which over looks 18th at Pebble Beach. I highly recommend this. Golf Now App has several good deals in the area. Poppy Hills was recomended by several locals and will be on my to do list next time. Golf Now had it at $130. I feel you have to tee off no later than 12:30 to get in 18 before dark this time of year.
