Now that the majors are over..does anyone really care who wins the FED EX race?? I feel like Im trying to keep up with NASCAR now.. :beruo:

There will be 4 tournaments with all the big names. Should be fun to watch...

A four event sprint might just be fun to watch. Any one player can get hot and string together a few good weeks and win it...of course Tiger's the favorite, but I think it's wide open. A guy like Jim Furyk might do well considering his consistency (if his back's feeling better). Maybe Phil will put it together and salvage a rather disappointing year. Perhaps a darkhorse will take it all...BOO might just "reel it in" or "bag a wall hanger." I guess we'll just have to watch and see. I hope it is exciting...although there is the potential for a letdown...let's keep out fingers crossed...if nothing else it get Tiger in a few more events!!!

right now, no. I think in the future the whole thing will pick up interest. I think it's a good idea that will catch on in the future. They're trying to market it as an end of season deal comparable to nfl playoff or something. I'm sure a lot of people weren't favorable to a super bowl system in football back in the day. nonetheless, yea, i'm a 4 majors that's it kinda guy for now. now that its done, roll on football season!! ha. we'll see though.

Isn't it like having a shortened golfing season of only 4 weeks? i.e. one major everyweek and then a final champion (say the money leader) is declared in the end?

 

If I interpret the Fedex Cup rules correctly, a player can be the overall champion even if he does not win all 4 events, probably a consistent top 5 should do the trick.

Wel, Tiger says he plans to play them all.... Ergo, he wins... I can't see him finishing low enough in all four events to knock him out. HE will be starting with the most points at the start of the playoffs. I am not a Tiger worshiper by any means, it is just the most logical probability. That said.... If everyone shows up with their games it should be goo to watch.

As they so prominently say in their ads...there's only one chance to be the first! Should be interesting to watch with all the top players competing. I take Tiger to take it all.

Not even does he enter with the most points, but the courses suit him as well. He's a two-time winner at Cog Hill and the TPC Boston.

Won once at East Lake with 3 runner-ups. When he gets through Westchester okay there won't be a close race...

As of this point I am not really interested. I am more interested in the President's Cup than that, but I think once the playoffs actually start and we see the field get cut down to the good players then I will get more interested in it. I think the last four events will be great for golf fans who can see the top players battling out. The fact that Tiger is committed to play has helped the events out a lot.

It will take some time to really care who wins. You can't just manufacture prestige...that being said, I like the idea of a season closing series of events. And at least we are guaranteed about 3 more weeks of good golf.

I am intersted, but the main reason is because of the fantasy league I am in...it ads a new element to the equation that wasnt there last year for fantasy owners anyway. The fantasy season ends with the Tour Championship, so you need to have guys who are high enough on the FedEx cup list to make it through all for events. It ads a little more strategy to the whole thing.

Rodge informed me that it's not 10mill....the winner gets a 10mill annuity.

 

They've kept it under pretty good wraps though.

I think with Tiger so far ahead this year, its not going to be that thrilling. Tiger is running on a lot of momentum right now coming off back to back wins with a major and he should easily close out top 5 finishes in these 4 tourneys to win the cup. I think it could be very cool in upcoming years if the competition was a little closer to Tiger.

i really couldn't care less who wins the fedex cup. Golf is not nascar, its all about the majors and the end of the year money list. maybe as the years go by, it will become more interesting to me, but not this year.

FEDEX cup is junk. Golf is all about the majors. Give it a couple of years and it'll die. The big names will eventually skip it all together and it will become just something that the golf channel will talk about.

 

I hate to be so negative, but I get irritated because these guys have to be enticed with 10 mil to get them to play. Its not like they are dodging bullets are building sky scrapers for a living here. They are playing golf for a lilving for goodness sake. Most of them don't care if they win or not because they like just getting paid enough to stay no tour and maintain their lifestyle. Only a select few actually play to win and break records.

Couldn't care less. Golf ended with the PGA. The silly season just starts a little earlier. Gave away tickets to the BMW to a friend in Chicago---didn't want the bother.

It'll be alright, at least we get to watch the best players in the world play for 4 weeks in a row & then the President's Cup after that. I expect TW will win, he looks in absolute control of his game again like he did at the end of last year, but there could be an unlikely surprise.
