He wants to dial back the ball because he's built over 100 golf courses and he can't go back and lengthen every one of them. Why would you spend 100s of millions of dollars to make the courses suit the ball when you can make the ball suit the courses for a fraction of the cost. He's speaking as a golf course designer more so than a player.

As for his comments on ball rollback, he's a course designer, it's in his best interest and the clients he built courses for to push for a rollback.
