December Golf- How late in the season were you able to play?

Southeastern MA here. Most of the snow looks to have melted and there's a high of 42 so I'm looking to get a round in today.

 

Played this morning in metro boston. Patchy snow, but playable. Snow, of course, being casual water...

Southwestern corner of South Dakota. We are usually done by October to November. Up to Wednesday of this week, I might have a sudden illness at work. It will require me to go chase a little white ball around in order to overcome the illness. With my normal weekend 4-some, we got out on Dec. 9th & 10th. One par 3 green was snow covered, so we just take a par or bogey (dependent on how the round is), & move on. It was the latest anyone has know for our course to still be open. End of last week all the greens were sanded with pins placed out in the fairways. So now done until spring. If a weekend is warm enough, you can get out & play to the pins in the fairway.

 

I hate temporary greens!

Hot Springs Thanks for asking! Right with you, hate the "winter" pins. However, it is at least something to shoot at. Just looked at the 10 day forecast. Wednesday is it, then done :boredom:

 

Just south of you (150 miles or so). Southern Hills? Still haven't been there since they added the second nine. Maybe next summer, drop mom at Prairie Winds and slip over and play! 60*'here tomorrow, 17*'Thursday.

Kimball or Sidney? Grew up at Chadron & played both courses in high school golf. The new back nine is kind of like a different course from the front. The back greens now roll fairly close to what the front greens do. Yep, still called Southern Hills & they have a website that you can do a hole by hole fly thru. If you can make it up, let me know when. I would love to play along with you. Still work, however there are some weekdays that are not too hard to have off (4 years, 7 months, 11 days but I am not counting).

Southern NH resident here. Last got out 12/3 at Red Tail. Tried getting a round in at Bass River on the Cape last weekend but some last minute snow crushed those plans

The pleasure would be all mine DP. Unfortunately, the real Thug passed on about a year ago. He was a cool bunny. We would let him out of his cage and have full roam of the house. He wasn't scared of the dog or the cat and they let him be. They knew a thug when they saw one.

Actually our high season is just starting. I now have to pick a time to play instead of just showing up at the course. It'll be like this until April 1 , then its back to off season and the "show up and play anytime you wish season".

Most in my area are open during winter..

Funny though.. Saturday the greens were frozen.. if your ball carries to the green, they will bounce off.. you almost had to land short of the green to stay on the green..

Our season ended yesterday. My car showed 63* when I was driving home after the round. But so far, they got this forecast correct. About two inches of snow on the ground now and coming down very steadily. And temps aren’t supposed to be out the 20’s for the next week or better.

60s this Saturday with possible rain, have a tee time at 11:53am, we'll see, hoping for the best!!!, then my next outing will be at the Magnolia Course in Disney on the 30th!!!!

Metro Atlanta here. Usually, I have it pretty good, and play all year. This month has been horrid though. I played at my club on December 2, and East Lake on December 4, but haven't played since. The weekends have been cold and wet, even got a bunch of snow a couple weekends ago. This past Saturday was nice, so I went to the club, only to find out there was an event that I had forgotten about taking up the course all day, so I just hit balls and putted. Now, it has rained so much, with the dormant grass, the course is going to be one big mud pit until March or so. Not even fun. :cry:

There isn't much of an offseason here in Texas. If it is too cold one day, it will be in the 60s the next.

Played today (12/21) in the Dallas area. Teed off at 7:25 and it was about 48°. Warmed up a bit after a while but wet from all the rain on Tuesday so it was cart path only. Based on forecasts that could be the last round of the year for us.

I play if the course is open. In Colorado we can usually play year round due to the snow only lasting a day or two after it falls.

I played this past Saturday, and plan on playing again Thursday. Most years I have been able to get at least 1-2 rounds in January as well here in KC.

 

Today was much colder than forecast so I pretty much had the course to myself.. This will be it for awhile it looks like. Hopefully it warms back up in a few weeks.

Played 9 yesterday with a friend. High around 54, overcast, no wind, course empty. Will play tomorrow, high of 59, mostly sunny, expect some other player to be out. Last Sunday was high around 50 with enough breeze to make it bite, but, as a result, I had the course absolutely to myself and I loved it. Unless we get snow that hangs around, and that’s relatively rare, it’s unusual to go more than about 10 days without playable winter conditions here in Central Virginia. Two things I won’t do are play in the rain or play when the greens are frozen.

We usually have enough warm days throughout the winter that i can play sometime during the week.

Last played on 12/2 but after that there was snow on the ground and nothing was open (been to the range a few times though). Hoping to play this weekend in between snow storms assuming the courses are open and my wife doesn't kill me for playing on Christmas Eve. Having withdrawals, I need to get out and play. Let's hope the weather cooperates.
