Jbeam drivers

Anyone have any experience w Jbeam drivers? I recently picked up a 435 Black limited and a zy7 and it's too cold to really give them a run yet. From reading elsewhere they seem to b of the better JDM driver companies.

I loved the Jbeam ZY11, it was factory foamed, and I think it was the most used driver on the Japan long drivers tour. The ZY7 was the newer version but I never got my hands on one, I understand it was not too popular. As for the 435 black, I had one but just could not get along with it....it was harsh and hard to control. I had a ton of Japanese drivers and there were 3 really good ones, namely the Ryoma and the Kamui and the Jbeam ZY11......

JBeam, has made/does still make drivers for some of the top boutique brands as well as their own line...

 

The 425 tour was awesome, and the original 435 in the "crazy" form aka the Crazy CRZ-435 will probably go down as one of the best all time.

 

Most if not all the Japanese long drivers use either the zy-7 or zy-11, they are extremely low spinning heads. I think the zy's have been said to have a muted thud, not the metallic

 

Yes the sound can be off putting with these heads, and the feel is a love/hate, but I have been gaming the new Galpha and it is simply fantastic.

 

They use the hotter face materials, DAT55G and SP700 in the Galpha to try to improve sound feel i belive, the DAT55G do have a serious clank to them.

 

As someone who was always a fan of the pear-shaped head, sadly that is one thing you will not find here with the JBeam's...but

I have tried several but never got on with them. Don’t like the dull dead feel and performance was nothing spectacular. The 435 in particular also has a tendency to look closed to my eye in part due to a funky hosel/face transition.

 

Since you’ve already pulled the trigger on these heads, I might suggest pairing them with your favorite “feel” shafts to liven up the experience a bit. Best of luck to you.

 

Some unsolicited advice: pick up an ONOFF CB358 Driver if you can scrounge one up. Fantastic head.

I just picked up some 8g weights for my ZY-11. I'm looking forward to shortening it and giving it another whirl come spring. I got along with it fine, but the 45 3/4" length was too much of a departure from my other drivers.

Where did you find the weights?

I had a jBeam/Crazy 435 head for a while. It was very low spinning, very long, but had a very "hard" feel at impact which I did not care for. I did hit some of my longest drives with it, combined with a Crazy LS Noir shaft

I got them mostly because I'm spinning the ball more now due to a recent swing change and these all seem to keep the ball and spin rate down. I don't mind a more muted or dead feel. Looking forward to trying them if the snow ever melts.

I had to order them from Japan. It was fairly convoluted.

It’s just a tremendous all around driver. Long, forgiving, great sound and feel, sets up and plays very neutral, etc. I don’t know why I ever got rid of it...well yeah I do, I’m sure I just got bored like usual. It’s every bit the club the G400 is but with a slick classic look.

 

I’ve been thinking about snagging another one lately because it’s one of the best drivers I’ve ever used. ( I’ve tried so many of the JDM and newer USDM stuff) I had the KKXT in mine which was a good match. Even tsupo who has tried them all loves his 358.

If you put plenty of spin on a driver then I think you'll enjoy the ZY-7, which you should receive late next week :)

I thought it felt and sounded better than the ZY-11. So far, the 535 has been the best performer of all the jBEAM heads I've tried.

A shallower face than the ZY range. Maybe a cross between a BM-435 and the Glorious. Seemed to be low to mid spin but I did use it with a Bangvoo 787. Mid height. Quite a flat penetrating trajectory. Awesome combo. Softest feeling of all of the jBEAM's for me. Nice metallic crunch. I think it was a 10* and square face. Should have kept that one........

MBBG still have the 358 I picked up from you. My friend wanted the kkxt shaft and replaced it with another kk shaft, but I miss the xt.

 

Can also speak to the zy11, currently with basileus AAA. That's a great combo as well, although the basileus has a little play in the tip of the shaft that throws me off a little.

 

358> zy11 for feel, but both are excellent drivers with the right swing.

I've got a Labospec 358 on the way to try now. Looking to move the 435 Blackout Limited if anyone is interested. Great driver but isn't going to beat out my Epic Stat.

I just hit it a little too low. I'm not a high ball hitter. Otherwise I loved it very high ball speed and low spin.
