I wish every 50 yr old beer belly would follow his lead. Never could understand what was so dignified about about a tucked polo on a 38+ waist.

 

You might be surprised, but there a lot of sub 40's with beer bellies too. But let's be real for a moment. There's nothing dignified about skin-tight pants and a form-fitting golf shirt on a blubber belly or bean pole. :beach:

Let me ask this: Who exactly is "hyping" Rickie Fowler so much that he is over hyped? I never hear him on the short list of Major Favorites, I never hear him on the short llst of a 5 win season, or the Fed Ex Cup winner, or the guy who needs to take down Rory in the Ryder cup. Nobody talks about him as being a peer to DJ or Spieth or even JT

 

This idea that he is over hyped is a myth because, well, he isn't ever hyped. He is a top 10 player in the world using quantifiable metrics based on results over the last 24 months, not some imagined peer review.

Maybe they are conflating overhyped with overexposed considering his resume? I do remember Golf Channel hyping up his Top-5 major finishes a few years ago and failing to mention he was 20 cumulative shots behind the winners.

 

They would be doing so incorrectly.

 

Results have little to do with exposure especially in sponsor driven professional endeavors like golf, tennis, auto racing etc...The day Zach Johnson garners two multipage threads about the clothes he wears will be the day that I'm convinced otherwise.

 

As far as neglecting to mention shots behind...they do that all the time across many players, and it definitely does not tell the whole story, I agree. But in the end you are given money, and points, based on your position, not how many strokes behind you were. I don't really blame them for putting Rickie on the tips of their tongues at that point, because he was trending in a positive direction

I’d think it would be uncomfortable and a bit restrictive actually.

 

I have some Tommy Bahamas similar to that shirt and they don’t really move right for Golf. I’ve gone to the range in them and they don’t feel good. They just don’t flex and move correctly.

 

I read in GC article, that Ricky had that shirt special made because of these same reasons. He isnt wearing a "normal" hawaiian shirt.

Monahan was also asked if he’d have any problem with Fowler wearing something similarly bold at another Tour event, like The Players.

I liked it. Generally tucked shirts look cleaner/better to me personally. But who would dare tuck in a hawaiian shirt lol. Only problem was that the shirt might have been a half size too tight for him.
