Probably posted half of these back in the early days of this thread, but the board changeover would've eaten them anyway.

 

I just love Seve.  Polar opposite of YJS in personality, but YJS is the only one of the current guys whose game reminds me of Seve.  Can be wild off the tee, but totally unafraid to hit any recovery shot he can dream up, and just a preternatural knack for getting the ball in the hole around the greens.  See for instance that moon ball of a pitch in the Ryder Cup.

This picture and accomplishment that will never ever be repeated in professional golf. Period. This picture should also have Tiger with the 2000 Canadian Open trophy for full effect.

 

All other pictures in this thread pale in comparison. Pictures of swings are great. A picture of never to be repeated obscene dominance is in an absolute master class of its own.

1984 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass

 

Freddie was paired with Seve on Sunday and beat him by 3 to win…at age 24

Pretty amazing….

trevino shot a 76 on Thursday and still dang near won…

 

great tourney and lots of players who go on to be commentators on tv had excellent weeks…

 

freddies 120 degree shoulder turn was and still is bananas

hus follow thru is maybe the coolest…well, second to Monty…but Freddie’s is awesome too

Mac O'Grady, Don Pooley, Bobby Watkins.

 

3 players in the group I was the standard bearer for at the 1989 US Open.

 

O'Grady & Pooley were great.  Watkins not so much.  Mac & Don made a point of introducing themselves to me & the walking scorer on the first tee.  Watkins never said a word to us.  I guess he was too important to do that.

I remember watching the paltry highlights of this before going to school one day in the lead-in to my A Levels. Balearic Open. Marathon play-off. Parnevik with a bagful of Eye 2s and a Mizuno TP-9 sand wedge that he used numerous times from the right of the 18th green...

No doubt. See, back then, cameras were made of solid old growth persimmon, and film was pure balata rubber. Photography just hasn’t been the same since everything went digital 😉
