Showed an extra knuckle on the left hand and cleared the hips early.   Played the ball forward in the stance and hit a fade when it wasn't so fashionable by today's standards.   I followed him at a tourney one time - outstanding ball striker in his time.

I've always loved Duval's swing for some reason. The rhythm, tempo and quality of strike was awe-inspiring to a younger me back in the late 90's.

Here he is, pictured in 1988 while attempting to articulate the height of it to his faithful bagman Dave Musgrove. 'It's a massive front, Dave. Really tall. It must be... Aaargghhh! I've strained my arm trying to show you...'

Niclas wasn’t exactly gloomy ending up second, as I remember it.  Big thing was that Woosie should have won it.

Peter Brown earned his PGA tour card in 1963 after winning consecutive Negro National Open titles in 1961 and ‘62.

He was the first black player to win a PGA tour event at the Waco Turner Open in ‘64 and stunningly beat Tony Jacklin in a playoff at the height of Jacklins power in 1970 at the star studded Andy Williams San Diego Open.

 

And, as usual for my posts, he had a glorious reverse C….and Elvis sideburns beginning in ‘71
