CC membership question.

Single golf-only memberships are hard to find. A single person looking for golf usually ends up paying for all club services, and/or for a full family fee.

 

Structure is great if you have a wife & 5 kids that use the pool/tennis/course etc. Not so good if you're a single that wants to play golf.

 

There are exceptions in some markets, but they're scarce.

My club's annual dues:

 

Full Family: $8600++

Full Single: $6400++

Young Exec. <40 Family: $4600++

Young Exec. <40 Single: $3400++

 

All categories include use of the pool and we do have a separate pool membership (no golf) that is around $1500. F&B minimum is $1500 paid bi-annually @ $750/half in advance and does apply toward alcoholic beverages. All memberships are required to pay the same F&B minimum.

 

There is no separate "golf only" option.

Actually, my kids are off to college and the house is going up for sale in May in hopes of convincing my wife to move south. Make me an offer I can't refuse and I'll throw in a year's dues at the country club...lol!!! ?

Extremely common, in fact it's the norm. Exceptions would be pre-paid cart packages or a trail fee for members owning their own carts.

My membership is a "single golf". Meaning I don't have access to the pool or tennis courts. Still have all dining privileges.

 

I'm wondering if this type is unusual or fairly common around the country. We're planning a move soon, but my wife doesn't use the facilities at all and If I have to pay full rate, it's probably not worth it to me. Depending of course on cost, but I doubt to many places will be as cheap as ours.

 

Tell me what your places have, and maybe where you're located too.

 

I have seen it before.. its more common when the facility is a bigger country club, meaning golf isn't the only main attracting factor (tennis, pool, etc.) With that being said, you can find some great value in that type of membership because it is not very common that people fit into that mold of a membership type.. also, they generally have a very affordable price tag.
