MC again today. My first round in about 3 weeks. Teed off just before 8am, and finished in 4:45. I've mentioned this before, but the regulars of the past 5 years or so seem to be gone and there has been no consistency in the groups I've seen teeing off each weekend. 4:45 is horrible timing for MC, especially that early in the morning. 

 

They recently came out with a revised max time of 4:25 after some form of analysis, upping it from 4:20.

 

If I could get regular prime tee times elsewhere, I'd likely jump ship.

I haven't played Morgan in well over a month.  Pace in the mornings has definitely slowed down.  

 

We've been having good luck playing much cheaper courses with basically equal conditions lately.

Played westwood the other day.. they are working on renovating the bunkers or what ever those things were supposed to be 

Wow !!!! I can't believe a golf course can let something get that bad and still have people play there 

The new white sand there redoing the bunkers with..looks nice I think it's going to be a  nightmare to maintain though 

Once all the renos are done I would play it again

Spent a few days on the sun shine coast and played blue ocean.. 

That course was a snooze fest.. I will play roberts creek on my next adventure over 

Heading out to play in the rbc cheatothon at shuswap national later today 

It just cracks me up when I see some of the final scores... how do they hand in those scores with a straight face lol

Popped up to Kelowna this weekend. Played Tower Ranch and The Bear. 
Pace of play was great and the conditions great.

Back to the links on trial, yay! Been 3 months since I swung a club and tore  a meniscus on the course.

 

Thank goodness I paid for a private MRI rather than waiting for the government (3-6 months) as the orthopedic surgeon had the MRI results at my first visit with him today. MRI shows near full meniscus tear R knee, some degenerative  (old guy, lol) arthritis in both and slight tear L meniscus. 

 

But I am doing much better with less pain overall with good physio exercises for the surrounding muscles, walking and cold laser therapy. The ortho said the tear might heal itself in 6-8 months post injury . We discussed other surgical and cortisone options if needed. 

 

But I'm not at those other options yet. He gave me the option to just "live my life" including golf now.  I'll use a brace on R knee and a power cart at least at first. First round is scheduled for July 17 though I might try an Exec Course earlier to test the waters. I am going to try to avoid the temptation to hit the range as I tend to overdo it at the best of times.

@myspinonit wishing you a speedy recovery. I've torn my right meniscus three times. Lots of physio and strength training. Apparently after the first time, you become more susceptible to it.

Thanks. Makes sense once weakened more vulnerable but I am also heartened that you have recovered several times. I have a very good physio and chiro experienced in high level athletes injuries. So I am in good hands and am dedicated to the exercise regime. It was my chiro that got me in for the private MRI in two days.

I had some done a few years ago on my knees... I like to think it helped

Never heard of it..had to look it up. Thanks, but I'll carry on with physio etc.

The big lesson on this for me going forward I think is to ensure I keep active  in the winter too..

They have moved to Britannia Beach and am wondering if I should bite the bullet and play Furry. I've pretty much stuck to SVCC since they used to live in Garibaldi. 

 

I quite like SVCC, but want to see what others think.

Scratched my head a bit but got it. I think of course you mean the Squamish Valley Golf Club. Haven't played Flurry Creek but they have done some good work with Squamish Valley GC. Played it  a week ago and was in great shape. Also good food, breakfast or lunch.

 

Probably where you play depends if you can get a tee time, especially if you are planning to play as a single fit-in.

My wife and I are heading to Osoyoos at he end of the summer for a few nights and I'm looking to play a  round in the area on Sept 1 (Labour Day) or Sept 2. The Mrs would prefer not to play so if anyone is going to be there and wants to try to book a game please send me a PM.

Sad day today.. made my yearly treck out to play mara hills as I love to get out there a few times a season 

Seems the new ownership and new management have fired the grounds crew 

That was horrific.. the tee boxes hadn't been repaired in a week from the looks of it 

They just moved the blocks back and never removed the divot material or filled anything in

I emptied my sand container on the 3rd tee box... bunkers were concrete.. we had a laugh as I walked into the first bunker and I didn't make any marks with my feet 

Raking was out of the question lol 

Some of the fairways were very soggy.. I know they do have drainage issues.

Perhaps they should water a little less 🤔 

Sad as it's always been a favourite gem 

First talking rock burns and now mara hills is in the gutter 

I can't bring myself to pay 180 to play the Okanagan club 😫
