I saw a similar price on the site i linked, for a single course. For that kind of money, you can learn Aimpoint and do it for yourself.

It's not hard to see which way a green breaks. Even if a map tells you which way, you still have to judge which way.

If a putt only breaks 1/2", the map can hardly tell you that.

 

I do see some value on a strange course to know which way the green slopes, to aim one side or the other.

I am starting to play in tournaments and the value I think for me would be seeing where to hit the ball on the greens I have never played. So if the pin is on the left and the greens run to the left I know I can aim in the middle.

You can always aim at the middle. In fact, you almost always SHOULD aim at the middle, unless you're in wedge range.

I have one for my home course its awesome but can be a crutch. I generally try to read the putt first then look at the book.

I really hope green maps get banned. The last thing we need is people studying the contours of greens from 175. Or taking out their map on the green because they don't have the ability to read a green without a map.

Back in my day we did not have maps we had to work hard to study these greens on our own.

So there you have it.. Or you want it for free? Your best bet would be to look at not so legal avenues but given that there's not exactly a huge demand for green books on that market, I think you're like to be SOL.

not necessarily....these books are extremely detailed and i wish i knew had to post pics on here but essentially you have a green mapped out with arrows covering every single part of the green....imagine what aircraft radar looks like for an air traffic controller on a daily basis, thats what it looks like

most courses do not have this sort of info, unless you're playing a course thats hosted a pga event or a top top level country club you wont find many clubs that have them

for Strackaline. Caveat is only big-name courses are available. Not cheap, but not ridiculous. There is an app option. Actual books are small and VERY detailed. For me, too much info on the course... But worth the investment for a course you play a lot where you can look over if you have certain holes where you have trouble visually reading the greens.

We have a tour event at my course, we have to clean out our lockers for the players to use. When I was putting everything back in my locker there were two of these there. I generally do not use it but when playing in tournaments I use it. I find that it gives me confidence that you have the read and generally I put a solid stroke on it. You still have to hit the putt. No different than getting a read from a caddie.
