eBay buyer gripe - “blocked”, what gives?

Like all good wrx’ers I like to buy my wares on eBay. Yesterday I reached out to a guy from OH who refinishes clubs, let’s call him Cougar Tom. I asked him if he would take $X.Xx for an item that was listed but did not sell and was reposted. Curtly, Cougar Tom declined. I totally understand, no hurt feelings I’m sure a lot of hard work went into refinishing those clubs and they look great.

 

However, today I get to thinking and I decide that I do want those wedges. I come to find out I’m a blocked buyer.

 

What gives? Why would a seller block me from buying their stuff just for asking if they’d take a lesser amount? It seems petty to me. You think I’m going to reach out and beg to be unblocked? Think again.

You can buy from a buyer who's blocked you, I have. Sign in as guest or something like that. That's if you're paying asking price I reckon.

Ok, I’ve been killing myself trying to figure out who this seller is and what they’re selling, but I can’t figure it out searching “refinished”, “custom”, “wedge set”, etc., and filtering the search below $300, accepts offers, North America only, etc. Someone clue me in, if you don’t want to put their name out there pm the name to me.

Is that the same guy that makes Flanigan Built putters? I think he's out by Chardon (Newbury), and I've seen he's been advertising refinishing heads on his Facebook page. I've been wanting to get fit for one of his putters someday soon. (This is probably more directed at Ohio guys)

I think they are different guys. Tiger Nick is in Chardon and IIRC the Flanigan guy is near Ashtabula. I have an uncle that lives about 10 minutes east of Chardon and other family near downtown Cleveland and Concord by LIttle Mountain CC. Also have spent a fair bit of time near your area. Have attended around a dozen shows at Blossom. Actually I've spent enough time in NE Ohio and other areas in Ohio in my life to darn near be an Ohio resident. :)

 

The gentleman that makes the Flanigan putters has a location in Akron (Murphys Golf).

I don’t think There was anything wrong with your offer, as a seller on ebay I’m more miffed by “what’s the lowest you will take� That’s like What’s the most you will pay? You are both hedging your number.

An item is listed for what the seller wants and it’s up to the buyer to make an offer and go from there. If the seller doesn’t want to play he should list as a firm price. My .02

Yea, but then I've said it before and I'll say it again I'm pretty sure 2nd Swing uses the best offer feature as a joke. I'm talking within $5 of the asking price of a club and it gets declined. Why even say that you accept offers?
