Houston Open

I thought I read recently that the Houston Open was no longer going to be played at the Golf Club of Houston after this year. I can’t find the article though. Am I making this up or is the tournament moving? Also, any idea on who the next sponsor is going to be?

I know their contract for the course was coming up after this year, not sure if they re-upped or not. My guess would be no title sponsor until a new course contract is in place.

Would be cool to see it move somewhere like Bluejack National or Trinity Forest, but from a logistical standpoint that wouldn’t make sense.

Trinity Forest is in Dallas - couldn't imagine the Houston Open being moved there.

I would think Memorial Park would have to be shutdown for a year to make it tour worthy. It’s one of the most played public courses in the country so would hate to see that happen. I think there are a lot better options in Houston these days.

Whispering Pines doesn’t seem to work from a spectator standpoint. It’s basically lake or forest on the edges of each hole so no where for fans to go.

doesn't the tour need to remove a tournament or two to get the schedule/fed ex playoffs completed before football? ... there's no way they can go to memorial without an upgrade of several million dollars and a shutdown of a year or so ... even then, there's no parking anywhere around ... have to park at reliant stadium and bus in ...
