Traveling to Olympia/Seattle

I will be visiting some family in Olympia over the first week of April. What are some solid courses that I could hit up as a single in the Olympia/Seattle area?

 

I do plan on going to Capitol City and Chambers Bay.

Best to call up the golf shop for the current playing condition, The South end had more rain and snow this Winter, Storm came from the South ( pineapple express ). Aerification will be sometime in late March early April so ask, because they will not volunteer the information. Some of these golf course will have excellent rate on the Golfnow and their own website if you sign up on the email list or phone app.

When he says that the military courses require 'two pieces of I'd, I think he means to get the military discount. I know Eagles Pride is open to the public. I've played there a couple of times, recently, and really liked it.

Don't expect much from Chambers Bay. Other than hosting a US Open, it's best left as a rock quarry.

 

If you can get on, Tacoma Country Club is a good track to play

Capitol City is a good place to play because you know you get great greens every time you play.

 

As a local I'd rather play Home Course > Chambers Bay imho.

I have seen a lot of people rag on Chambers Bay. Why have they let the greens go?

Alktrio, it's not that the club let the greens degrade. They were never good from the beginning. I played CB in 2008, a little more than one year after it opened. The greens at that time were bumpy. Despite re-builds over the years, the putting surfaces have never been pristine (at least when I've played).

 

But the routing & the course overall is very interesting.

Echoing others here: The Home Course, Chambers, Salish Cliffs, Gold Mountain Olympic course, Hawks Prairie. I haven't played it but I have heard good things about Trophy Lake as well.

Overall, I had a great experience in the Olympia area.

 

1. Capitol City was a great course to warm up on.

 

2. I really enjoyed Chambers Bay. The greens are tough and I ran off 4- 5 greens easy, but the scenery was great and it was relatively cheap for my afternoon round.
