Hey Tiger, "Does your husband play golf?"

Shawn Paul

Recommended Posts

Hey Tiger, "Does your husband play golf?" was uttered when Tiger short putted on the 11th yesterday during Valspar. I cringed when I heard it.

Is this the kind of "super funnny" and humorous things we can expect guys who spend their "hard earned money" to "blow off steam" to be yelling out in the future?

I'm sure all the ladies thought the guy who yelled it was super classy, funny, progressive and handsome. He probably had to fight off all the new fans he had from such a witty comment. (this is sarcasm)

Your thoughts?

I always thought the saying was "does your husband play" implying that the male hitting the shot hits it like a woman? Surely this makes more sense.

Attending any golf tournament will help anyone soon realize that it's a great place for a fan of the game to be...

if they want to be annoyed by mean-spirited, classless people who like to drink, make fun of people and pretend that they actually know more about the game than can be learned with a 5 minute google search.

Sure... these may be the exceptions to the rule, but just like any other sporting event, there will be plenty of people there who just want to take their selfies for Twitbookstagram and be noticed, instead of actually enjoying the event.

I was thinking exactly the same thing when I was watching the tournament.

Moron couldn't even get that right. opps maybe the guy on TV got it right.

What is undeniable is impact of Tiger. We had a bunch of guys watching the tournament in the club house.

Not sure how many would have watched the Valspar if Tiger was not in the hunt.

Even just watching on TV the amount of crap being yelled when Tiger is shown is getting ridiculous. I could clearly hear some young kids yelling baba boey-baba boey after a few drives and plenty of drunk idiots.

I am sick of the childish behavior from some of these idiots at golf events. The "everyone look at me!" crowd. The crap needs to stop.

And I've read it all from the defenders of this behavior. "He gets paid millions of dollars, he should be able to put up with a little heckling". Or "they yell things at other sporting events like football, he needs to be tougher". No, it's you idiots who could stand to learn some common decency and manners when you're out in public.

Unfortunately the world is overpopulated with losers. We have short circuited Darwinian survival in our modern society. Five hundred years ago that guy heckles a king and loses his head to the betterment of all mankind.

Or just a couple years ago...

Shock value is apparently a measure of modern manhood.

Tiger brought a lot of people to the sport......most people think this is a good thing, more money, more popularity etc. Others just think Tiger just brought a lot of stupidity to the sport.....I dunno.....maybe the stupidity would have arrived anyway. I blame Facebook.

I think my revised equation looks like this:

Synthetic formula as an infant + no structure as a child + a poor diet as a teen + heavily caffeinated beverages + alcohol + backwards hat + facebook =

Guys who yell at golf tournaments.

It's definitely annoying to hear the yelling before, during and after shots. Iam all for cheering, but the need to be heard is a sign of the way society is. We are a "look at me" society and it has seeped into golf. Until the USGA does something about it, there is nothing that we can do, except complain about it.

I agree just think people should understand they aren’t at an NFL game, some never will and it’s disrespectful to the game on any level

The USGA can do something about it. But then we would still have all of the idiots yelling at PGA Tour events.

Everyone needs to remember that Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc... (social media) was created by the most socially awkward group of people on the planet. How could that possibly turn out well?

The USGA has nothing to do with the PGA Tour or creating rules for paid patrons, or hecklers.
