Hottest faced driving iron

Any consensus on which of the newer driving irons has the hottest face.

 

My apex irons certainly are hot, so im assuming the new callaway gets the ball out there as well, but the mp 18 fli hi looks very promising also.

For me it's the u65/u45 - produces the fastest ball speeds. Right behind it are the DHY and p790 long irons.

 

I have a GC2 (HMT) and that produced the fastest ball speeds. I tried or have.

Does seem to be love for the srixon. I never got along with the 745 irons but these could be a different beast

Not newer but I have an 18 deg PRGR Zoom that has a Ti face and with roll is almost as long as my 3 wood. It’s hard to hold a green with it but as a true driving iron it is by far the longest I have tried.

I've got a U45 18 degree and an Apex UT in 21. The U45 just goes and goes. The ball pops off the face like a hybrid.

I've got the U65's in a 2 and 3 iron and they've got pop. But I think the Ping G crossover was maybe even hotter for well struck center hits, but uncharacteristically for Ping, it was really lousy for off-center hits.

I've seen more distance from my M2 LIFT than any of the other similar type DIs I've hit. IMO, this club is tough to beat on distance alone. Definitely not the most forgiving, but it is a 2 iron after all. These clubs aren't supposed to be as easy as hitting an 8 iron.

I strongly believe the Ping Rapture is still the best out there, still can find some decent ones on ebay. I strongly dislike what Taylormade, Mizuno and Titleist have come out with. I think the Callaway driving irons have been ok, but very easy to hook. The Srixon U65 would be by far my choice for what's available currently.

Probably little doubt the new PXG GEN2 driving irons with thin faces and super hot sauce inside...COR2.....should be EXPLOSIVE!!

Another vote for the Srixon. Was getting some amazing distance out of a U65.

Srixon U45 3, hot and high. Crossover G400 3 hotter and higher then the Crossover G, but mid flight. Rapture D.I. hot, low and long.

u65, launches high and exits fast!

 

Personally, launched to high for me as the desire for a DI was low and long. Have only been hitting the MP-18 MMC Fli-Hi for the past 3 days and launch is noticeably lower. It doesn't have that trampoline feeling off the face but it solid and runs long.

I’ve actually done that and it competed with my 3 wood.

 

Decided to settle on 17* as optimal in my set make-up

u65 has my vote. It’s my go to club for extremely tight courses and when struck well it just goes and goes plus...the sound it makes is addicting. I’ve owned the Apex UT and the UDI 1,2, and 3 irons and the Srixon was the best of them all.

I've had luck with both the Wishon 590DIH and Tour Edge CBProh (og version). Both models are very long; Wishon goes a little lower for me.

i just picked up a 790 3 iron... i had a new MP18 Fli-Hi and while that was good, it was missing that something. The 790 feels much better than the Fli-Hi and as good as my old 712U however its more forgiving and the club is juiced right up. Dare i say the 790 is almost too long for a 3 iron.

Not newer, but I picked up a ping eye2+ 1 iron on Thursday at a local shop for $25 just because lol. It has the stock zzlite shaft and I was blown away with how far it goes and how easy it was to hit off a tee. Fun club and looks cool in the bag!

I'd have to say the new Touredge Exotics CBX Iron-Wood. I hit the #3 (19*) Iron-Wood at the range this week. It was 45 degrees outside and I was 1 hopping into the fence at the end of the range. The fence is 230 yards out. I can't reach the fence with my 18* 5 -wood, on a warm day.

Thanks to this thread, I picked up a U65 2 iron, I’m glad I did. It definitely outperformed my MMC 2 iron.

U65 2 iron has blown me away. I’ve also tried the Cobra Utility and the MP-18 fli hi and the U65 is in a whole different league.
