Big Cedar for family trip?

Anyone been to Big Cedar? Considering it for a family trip, but could also just be my wife and I. Have two boys, 7 and 5. 7 year old is a golfer and would live to take him golfing with me (could just putt). Wife and 5 year old are not golfers.

 

How is the golfing and how is it as a resort for non golfers?

The lodge is very very nice with lots of family activities Golf is top notch, the new Mountaintop 13 hole par three-is walking only and would be a great place to take your son. Buffalo Ridge is a great course that will test a good player but not beat up a high handicapper.

Big Cedar is about 30 minutes away from me and they are putting in tons of work to make it a true destination. I don't think of it as a destination since it is so close but it does tick all the boxes. Resort, several onsite restaurants, golf options, etc... I don't think you would be disappointed.

 

I will add that there is a very nice driving range at the top of the rock that the kids would love. Add in that the restaurant and bar are right next to it and it can be a fun evening for everyone.

I have been to big cedar twice. Once with family as a day visit and another time as a golf trip with the guys. You will absolutely love the place (except maybe some of the prices) and will be planning your next visit before you leave.

We called for a last minute room on a random Saturday last October and they wanted $461 for one night. If anyone knows of another place to schedule rather than directly with them and save money let me know. Nothing in Branson is worth seeing for $461/night.

I went with my wife a few years ago and it was great but very expensive for a young couple. Good golf, good food, good activities but pricey.

My family has been going to big cedar for 20 years. Great destination but is pricey.

 

Awesome golf but can be pricey as well. Last time I checked Branson Hills(formerly Payne Stewart golf club) is the only top level course, and it’s great, available on golf now for good rates below $100 fee.
