Someone needs to tell him he’s overrated again. Which when that article came out in 2015 saying he was, it was totally true. That spurred Rickie to his great 2015. But boy, what a collapse on the weekend again. He’s gotta be the worst closer in the top-50. Paul Casey is/was in that category too. I am a fan of Rickie’s, but what’s the problem? He’s too nice? He has a million sponsor commitments and he never says no to anyone and he wears down? Is Rickie too risky with his shots and tries to force the issue? Or are his weekend failures just bad luck? Or he just needs more time?

There is no denying his talent. I can't help but think it is some kind of mental lapse, be it a loss of focus, nerves, or what have you.

Fowler's problem is between his ears. Horrible decision making and course management.

His course management is bad. Driver off the deck on the hole he’s currently playing is dumb bc he isn’t reaching the green either way. Tried to cut the corner unnecessarily yesterday and today and put a ball in the water. At the Waste Management a few years ago he hit driver on 17 and put it in the water for no reason.

And years before that WM, he ditched the 4i(going for green in two) and settled for a wedge in.. Even Arnold Palmer questioned him on this.

That was a big mistake too. I just wonder if that particular criticism pushed him to take the unecessary risks he’s taking now.

Bones got some criticism early on as he transitioned to the booth, but he’s really good now. That was a good find by NBC. Think Bones stays on as an announcer or finds a great bag?

I think he stays on as an on course announcer. He did the caddie thing, was very successful at it, now he can sit back and relax. :-)

Bad Phil stat.....

Since 2006 he has the 2nd most balls in the water (31) at Houston trailing Padraig Harrington (40). Through 3 rounds this week Phil is now at 36 and Padraig is at 42 or 43. See attached.

Id love to see Keith Mitchell win.He almost did last week. hes an absolute animal off the tee.great leaderboard. We might see a 4-5 way playoff tomorrow

Apparently the dude hit a 306 yard 3 wood off the deck into a par 5 today. That is just monstrous.

My buddy played with him last year on the web.com tour and said to me he’s the longest player he’s ever played with. Very long

My impression of Spieth this year - and I might be completely wrong - is positive! It seems like he is working on his swing fundamentals and tempo. The swing is looking more and more compact and rythmic. The impression is that he is working hard with that and the putting is a litlle less on his prio list. If he comes out with a more stable, attractive swing, and can come back to his normal putting standard, he will not only win more, but also get more fans. The swing of the golfer is the fundamental for the fans that really love golf, the stable ones. The swing is what we all strive for. And it doesnt have to be pretty, Els-ish, Furyks swing, and Bubbas swings will not be taught by any pro, but it looks good when they perform it. Spieth have earlier been a pain to see swinging, from the head bobbing into that un-rythmic thing he was doing. But it looks a lot better this year. And with many three putts yesterday and still a good score, the long play seems to be better. And he is not as wayward off the tee as usual.

The son of two great ball players, he has obviously a lot off feel for the ball, from 150 yds in. But the golf swing transcends the hockey slap shot, that is the true spirit of golf. It´s the most iconic movement in sports and a lot of ”athletes” have learned that the swing is something you not only do but what makes golf never, ever boring.

Glad Poulter has a chance of winning. Not watching the event as the course is soooooo dull. Ladies ANA far more interesting.

I agree. This may be the least interesting course on the PGA TOUR.

Should be a good final round, though. We have Poults trying to get into the Masters and Hossler trying to break through. Who will blink first?

If both should crumble, we have a few likable guys within shouting distance. Of course I'd love to see Jordan Spieth shoot a 64 and win this thing.

After the two leaders, we have 25 guys bunched within three strokes of each other. Might be a wild day.
