Well, that’s just clutch. I’ve never quite understood the hatred for Poulter. Yes, he doesn’t wear beige khakis, have a button down side parting, and doesn’t drive to events in his RV, but this guy is a working class hero, a guy who made it to the top 5 OWGR, won 2 WGC, and is better than Seve at the Ryder Cup. He also raises millions for disadvantaged kids. If he was one of ‘yours’ you’d love him as much as Sir Phil.

 

I hope he ends up paired with Tiger next week in the final few groups on Sunday, that will be epic!

I must be one of the few Americans who do not have a problem with Ian Poulter, and I'm happy for him on this huge victory. You could see in that little post round interview how much this means to him, from making it into the Masters as well as the loving support he has received from the important people in his life. Great stuff.

 

We are as red,white and blue in our home as can be but we loved watching and cheering on Ian today! Gutsy performance and as hard as it is to win on tour he showed serious mettle when he needed it!

Very pleased to see Poulter win. Sure, he's not everyone's cup of tea but he certainly makes golf more interesting. It wasn't long ago he was in a major slump and almost lost his tour card. Excellent to see him bounce back.

 

This also raises the very real possibility of him making the Ryder Cup team which not long ago looked completely out of the question. As a "Euro" I'd love to have an in-form Poulter in the team but at whose expense?

Poulter was clutch but I actually had Hossler in a few of my draftking lineups so he did cost me a few bucks today tbh. I don't mind seeing Poults at the Masters..he earned it. Hopefully our boys will take care of business at the Ryder Cup so we don't have to see all the fist pumping and stares as I'm assuming he earned his RC spot today too.

Well he is one of "mine" and I don't really like him (I'm sure I'm not alone either). That said, this was an outstanding performance. He won from as far back after the first round as anyone has done in decades, hardly missed a shot for three days and the putt on 18 was super clutch, even more so when you consider he has never won a strokeplay event in the US (and he's always being reminded of it!).

 

As to why people dislike Poulter, I think it's mainly due to his unwarranted self belief, aesthetically unappealing swing and his complaining (see last week's latest example). He's basically a massive over achiever which I guess is something we should respect but not all of us do. And then you hear him being compared favourably to Seve and your head explodes.

What's so bad about chest pounding? Every sport does it. I see it all of the time in soccer. Same in baseball. And, as you pointed out, the NFL and NBA.

 

The guy got excited, made a huge putt and was excited.

 

Please tell us what the appropriate reaction would had been? And what should NFL players do? You know, when they make a huge play (like causing a fumble, getting van interception, sacking the QB).
