Future of the White Golf Belt

I've owned one belt for the last 25 years approximately. I don't see any time in the foreseeable future where I will even get a new belt (or need one). I will probably be buried wearing this belt. I just never thought of belts really until I saw this thread but glad I did since I now have an appreciation for this belt of mine. I mean I put this thing on nearly every day for the past 25 years and I never give it any credit. It's probably the best purchase I've ever made or wait, it is the best purchase I've ever made. Only problem is it's black.

I like white belts w/ a white polo - I have really long legs and that gives the illusion of a little longer torso.

 

I'll wear a white belt with most golf outfits though, so long as my hat and shoes are also white.

 

I don't find it to be a crime, but I think it's absolutely a younger mans style.

 

Nike/Puma/Adidas/Gfore/Greyson/Under Armour all look good w/ a white belt, or even a pink, light blue, etc. belt.

 

Peter Millar, Ralph Lauren, etc. are probably better left with a classier belt.

i've worn a white belt a few times -- mostly it gets paired with FJ icon all whites, black pants, tiffany blue polo and a white hat. or, sub polo with any bright color, limited to pinks, yellow, greens, or purples, NO reds.

I agree that the white belt can still be utilized effectively with the right corresponding colors. Most people that have chimed in already share a similar perspective as me. White belt goes with shorts/pants that are white, light grey, or brighter colors as long as the shoes and shirts correspond or are also mainly white. It also tends to help when the clothing is of a "younger" style or more modern cuts. White hats also help pull it off.

 

I really don't care or give second thought to whatever anyone else wears on the golf course. That said, black pants/shorts with a white belt is about as bad as it gets for my tastes. The chances of me wearing that combo are about the same as me tucking a plaid dress shirt in to striped sweat pants and rolling to the office in the morning.

I have both white and black belts but my shoes are predominately white so i tend to go with the white belt/hat.

I wear the white belt, just not with black and dark blue pants. Don't really like them with white pants either but depends on the top (but I think white top with white pants obviously would look odd). A lot depends on the shirt and hat choice if not the shoe choice. Should match at least 1 out of 3.

My take is that the belt color should match something else in the outfit - hat, shoes, shirt, or pants/shorts. For me, if you can't pull that off, then it's best to just go with conservative black.

 

Now you might be able to go high contrast - for example, all black but for a white belt, but that' not a look that I think I could pull off.

 

If the team is wearing white shoes, I think it could be OK. And as a 'team', if they're all doing it, it may work even if it's not so great individually.

 

To the other point, the only way my white belt comes out of the closet is for golf or if my pants are white.

I get why the kids would wear them. Tour players like Spieth, DJ, Rahm, Tiger, wear them!

 

Personally, I've kept mine in my closet for everything but white shorts. I mainly wear navy and gray shorts that I'd rather pair with gray/navy/black/brown belts. I think the white adds unnecessary contrast and draws attention to your waist - not the best idea.

I match my belt to my pants. Backup is matching belt to shirt. And that’s it. I do not match my belt to my golf shoes or hat. Golf shoes and hat match the rest of my outfit. This is for golf only. When wearing a suit, I match my belt to my shoes.

What I wore today on course : Navy Shorts, navy web belt, navy shoes, grey shirt, navy and grey hat.

What I’m wearing now : Dark jeans, brown alligator belt, brown shoes, white check shirt, navy sport coat.

 

White belt hardly ever gets worn but when it does, it’s with white pants.

I actually think that HS uniform sounds pretty cool.

 

Traditionally, your belt should match your shoes and since most people are wearing white shoes, white would be appropriate.

 

Also for the record, I don't own a white belt despite my 30 pairs of white golf shoes.

We've got a guy that shows up to men's league wearing exactly what you've described, plaid shirt tucked into striped gym shorts, white runners and black socks. It's great

I have no problem with the white belt. I have one and wore it plenty with white shoes (Adidas Traxion360 BOA) and pretty much anything other than khaki shorts/pants. That said, even before the Traxions wore out, I'd shifted to a grey web belt for pretty much anything casual on or off course (usually with grey NB 515s), and now it matches well with my grey Puma Ignite Disc Extreme shoes too. I will say, the white belt can draw attention to the guy if there's much there... I'm borderline, so that made retiring it that much easier.

I wear a white belt when I wear white shoes and my visor or cap usually match. I wear shades of grey often so it works for me.
