Future of the White Golf Belt

I'm ready for the white belt to go away.

 

I think there are so many other solid options out there that are interesting, colorful and fun.

 

Grey leather belts are good. Some of the multi-color woven belts are cool looking. Lots of great needlepoint options in good colors (and good conversation starters).

I still don't get why white belts elicit so many strong feelings.

 

Because people look bad in them, yet continue to wear and, worse yet, advocate for them.

I love my white belt and would wear it work if it was professionally acceptable. Honestly, though, I choose my golf belt based on my shoe and hat color.

I recently got both white and grey belts, and find that I feel a lot sharper. I like the white belt with white trousers / shorts but I’ll put it with grey as well as I mostly wear white golf shoes. The grey belt goes with the grey / blue trousers and offers even more versatility I think.

The white belt is still very much a viable option today. Watch the PGA over the weekend and you will see a good number of players with a white belt. My white belt is staple in my golf wardrobe along with grey, black, blue, orange any a number of multi colored belts.

This makes me such a golf nerd but I’ve got to get it off my chest. I can’t stand the use of PGA when referring to the PGA Tour. They’re not the same thing.

I still rock a white belt, albeit webbed or sometimes canvas.

 

This is golf people... We are golfers. We are known for our colorful attire. Would I wear some of my outfit combo’s to my meetings? No... But I will peacock the isshh out of one on the golf course.

White belts have been worn since the early days of golf and will go on longer after everyone in this forum is dead. No matter how many white belts are gone threads are started every other month, the white belt will never leave. Find a more likely elimination cause because this one ain't happening.

No matter how many white belts are gone threads are started every other month, the white belt will never leave. Find a more likely elimination cause because this one ain't happening.

 

I'm going to clarify again for those who missed my earlier posts...

 

I'm not hoping/wishing/telling anyone to stop wearing a white belt. I have a white belt, and I still wear it with the correct attire. All I'm trying to to get across is that too many golfers automatically grab it out of the closet and wear it with every color. Just be more selective how you wear your white belt. That's exactly what the clothing manufacturers are doing with their brand ambassadors on Tour lately.

I wear a lot of light blue/green/grey shorts/pants and along with the majority of my golf shoes being white I just find the white belt goes best/easiest with most of my outfits. Don't try to wear it much but it usually turns out that way. Have black/navy/brown/grey belts as well but I find I really enjoy the contrast offered by the white belt most of the time. I think as long as it goes with everything else/ at least have white shoes and a hat otherwise you're good to go. Don't see it going anywhere soon. Wish I could find some reliable white pants as well but just too hard to keep clean

I was watching a guy switch out to a white belt in the parking lot of the course the other day. It made me think of this thread, I thought, 'he must be a WRX'er.' :)

I just got a new one this winter. I like wearing it with Navy, Red shorts. If the trend is dead ill be a little outdated for awhile I guess.

For me. My belts match my shoes. Not a fan of white shoes. Let alone something I'll be walking through mud in. Brown for me. Almost always.

I still have a white belt in my golf wardrobe, I see white belts worn by members at my club and watching the PGA tour I still see plenty of white belts. I would say rumors of it's demise have been greatly exaggerated. (Thank you Mr. Twain)

Only two players who finished in the top 25 at the PGA Championship wore white belts on Sunday. Two others players wore very light gray or cream colored belts too.

 

Again, I'm only pointing out that they're far less commonly worn on Tour now. Don't automatically grab your white belt as your "golf belt" anymore.

Never owned a white belt & never plan to; they need to go the way of the leisure suit (which I never owned, either)
