Cant get a handle for it reading through trip reports but is it any less crowded this time of year? What about the 2 weeks around Christmas/New Years?

In my experience - If you go very close to the holiday's date, yes there are less people.

I have a friend whose group goes over Thanksgiving weekend and they love it. I went 4th of July weekend 3 years ago and it was empty and awesome. They said the resort was at 25% capacity.

I think there are a few factors to consider. For one, I think there are a lot of Oregonians who watch the forecast closely Nov.-Jan and run down last minute when the weather breaks (and it can be really nice in the winter actually). Those months often seem to have one course closed for maintenance. That leaves three courses and the preserve. The days are pretty short so there aren't many tee times available in general. Depending on the time of year, the last guaranteed to finish time can be as early as 11:40. So yes, it will be less crowded, but there are fewer available times.

 

We have been able to get booked a month or two out playing the 30-31st of December. I have also had luck right before Christmas.

Thanks, would only be planning on one round a day so shorter days wouldnt affect us too much - save for their being fewer overall tee times.

During Christmas I check the weather and find the ideal 2-3 days to go before New Year's, and I've been able to book that trip twice now.

When the rates are at the cheapskate levels, I watch the weather. If the forecast is good, I day trip it over (with the rest of the southern Willamette Valley).

Curious....from Thanksgiving to the end of February....assuming one doesn't have a tee time.....as a single.....is there a long wait to get paired up with others to play in the morning?

I've got to believe....not all the tee times at all the courses are completely filled with 4somes on the AM tee sheet.

+1, especially if you are willing to play whichever of the courses are least booked. If you go with the notion "I must play Pacific today" then you may have to wait a bit (like and hour or two).

 

The good news is you can't play a bad course there...

No they let singles book, I do it regularly as a single. It's just a matter of being fit in. They'll try to put you with other groups that aren't up to four players. I've been paired up with tons of different people at Bandon, and never had any issues with anyone. Helps that pretty much everyone who goes there is a golf nut.

This has been my experience as a single as well. I've gotten to play a lot of rounds solo, too. Just depends on how busy they are.
