New 4w shaft help

I looking to buy a Tour Edge Ex9 Tour 17 degree fairway wood. Can’t decide on which Rouge shaft to get. Last time I had as check it was 104-105 with driver at a golf galaxy. With very aggressive transition my miss currently is pulled left with a tee xcg6 3 wood with the matrix made for shaft. I have a hard time most days hitting high ball flight with woods hence why I am leaving a 13 3w for a 4 wood. Would you recommended black or silver and 60 v 70 any input is appreciated

No, nothing about the swing speed or transition indicates the "need" for any particular trait or characteristic.

 

People (particularly with your swing speed) generally prefer the heavier versions for fairway woods BUT - it is largely a personal preference and can be very subjective - it's not a hard and fast rule by any means. It's about matching the weight to your particular sense of rhythm and tempo.

 

On top of that, the "60" gm versions - especially in stiff or x-stiff are already quite heavy and very close to being 70 gm shafts.

 

e.g. Black 60 Stiff is 68 gm uncut while the "70" Stiff is 74 gm - so not nearly as much of a difference as most might think. The Silver 70 (stiff) is a little heavier at 77 gm - so almost an 80 gm shaft.

 

For fairways, the black generally is more commonly used instead of the Silver due to the slightly softer tip to help give a bit more dynamic loft and elevation (although loft is a bit more effective way to get that extra elevation). But again, personal preference for feel plays a large part in the selection process so you can find both being used by a wide range of players. Both are plenty stiff and can easily handle your swing speed and aggressive transition.

 

So without more information - particularly with respect to your history with driver and fairway shafts - what has worked, what hasn't and why .... It's hard to make any particular recommendation - other than recommend that you see if you can find any to demo - that's the only way to be sure. But if pressed, I'd probably lean toward the 70 Black. If it does turn out to be a bit tip soft, you can always tighten it up with additional tipping (and get very close to what you would have had with the Silver). Just start out about 1" over length and test it choked up. But if the Silver is a bit too tip stiff, not much you can do to 'fix' that.
