Losing club on course

Dang. That sucks. I'm hoping someone does the right thing and turns it in. With a 6i I think your chances are higher.

I've left wedges around the green before. The only thing I never got back was a putter cover. Too bad too because it was for my custom putter and a limited run. It's not a CT headcover or anything so I thought for sure someone would turn it in. Thieves suck.

I assume they have a lost club bin but call to make sure. Even if they tell you they don’t have your club go look yourself. I left one behind and realized it when I got home. Called the course. They “checked” for me and said they didn’t have it. I went back anyway and asked where they kept lost clubs. Directed me to the cart barn. Found my club in less than 10 seconds.

Most people turn stuff in - good chance your club is there somewhere.

Good luck.

Left a wedge on the green last week and didn’t know rice for about 4 holes. Asked the group behind us and the marshal and nothing.

There was a shotgun that went out after the group behind us, so I didn’t have high hopes.

Sure enough no one turns it in, leave my info in the pro shop and call in twice to check.

First time I’ve ever left a club and had someone snag it.

Super bummed out

If it was 30 years ago, I'd say 99% you'll have your lost club returned to you.

But, time is a little different now.

I hope you'll get it back because missing one in the set is a PITA. Especially you worked on it the whole Spring.

Thanks and the other issue is that Bridgestone does not have any more of these left as they stopped making them. A tough brand iron to replace with their lack of availability and gutting carts. Not too many fitting cart 6 irons on eBay either. Hopefully if turns up today otherwise will have to slip in the J40 6 iron until I find one on eBay.

Drove the Pro shop guy crazy yesterday and called him every hour!

Are you certain that you had the 6 iron in the bag that day ? Had you used the 6 iron on the golf course that day ?

The reason I asked is, sometimes I'll take a club or two out of the bag for one reason or the other , just did not return them to the bag.

Sometimes I went looking for a club in the spare bags, went over twice and never spot it. It was hidden behind the other clubs.....

Maybe I should get rid of some of those spare bags.

Oh trust me as many clubs as I have and my memory is getting shorter all the time I do that as in leaving a club in the shop hidden by other clubs or in the spare bedroom again hidden by other clubs. Now if I play one of my vintage walking rounds say carrying 6 or 8 clubs I do lay out the irons I am not using that day on the workbench. Yeah senior moments and too many clubs can create stress--- Yeah like you I think I need to get rid of A LOT of STUFF!!!

Sounds like that course has a lot of what we have down here----- Lazy non caring pro shop staff---- Modern products of PGM school most of these lazy a holes would have worked for my old man 15 minutes if that long---- No excuse here because all the courses here have radio communication with the cart barn ,bag drop , starters and Rangers

I don't care what it is on the golf course a brand new $500 driver or a bag of money, it's not mine, and I'm going to return it. It really bothers me if I know somebody keeps something when they shouldn't.

Once I had a 9 iron pulled from my bag sitting on the bag rack outside of the proshop. I had since had the bag cover zip up when it's out of sight. Less temptation and minimize opportunity theft. Not quite as bad as one other golfer, had his bag stolen right outside of the proshop. The bag turned up later at a golf shop 8 miles away, when the thief tried to sell the bag to the shop. They called the police and he was apprehended. They recovered the golf bag and golf clubs missing the wallet and the cell-phone.

That's way I always keep the keys and the wallet and the smart phone with me whenever I leave my bag.

I'm sure a lot of us will have interest in some of the stuff you're letting go.

I had found out I could not rotate all my stuff in one season. Just last night I went in the garage for something else and spotted this driver which I had forgot that I own. Took it in the family room and exam it under good light, liked it again, and it'll be going out with me next week.

A Bridgestone Tourstage Xdrive 455 with Rombax shaft. Might take the 88 Apex irons and Callaway Steelhead fairway woods with them, and an 8803 style putter. A nice functional mixed bag.

Still couldn't take out the persimmon fairway woods out for the condition is not yet Summer like. I just don't have time to refinish the persimmon heads every year like I used to. And some of those wood blocks might be getting more fragile from aging and drying up a bit over the years.

It's been several years since I left a wedge greenside but was lucky that the group behind me picked it up brought it to me on the next tee box.

That said, I've made probably the most egregious error ever and left my ENTIRE BAG on the back of the cart when I returned it and didn't realize. After dinner that night I was convinced it was stolen by the valet or at least they left the vehicle unlocked and someone grabbed it from the back in the deck. Luckily the next morning I called the course (my home course) and they said "the one with the iron covers? Yeah, it's here in the pro-shop office". The combination of embarrassment and iron-cover shaming has me much more vigilant when loading up in the parking lot!

Thanks but mine was the DPC forged version.

I do have a J40 DPC 6 iron with the same PX LZ shaft that I could sub for a while.

Also looking at a 5 iron on EBay that I could cut down, change loft and shaft but will be a $200 exercise!!

Just because a club isn't turned in doesn't mean that there was malicious intent. I know that I found a club a couple of weeks ago, picked it up and threw it in my bag with the intent to drop it at the pro shop at the end of the round. I was walking that day and, seeing that I'm old and fat, I was pretty wiped out at the end of a muggy warm day. I couldn't wait to get to the car, sit down and crank the AC. Needless to say but I forgot all about walking to the pro-shop to turn in my hitchhiker. Didn't remember that I had it until the next time I went to the course and took the bag out of the trunk to do my my pre-round systems check. Of course I dropped the club in the pro-shop where they said they would check to see if any had called in.

After all, why would I want just a 6 Iron? I don't even play Bridgestones!

We had to drive an hour and a half back to pick up my clubs, fortunately the guys weren't angry with me.

Last year the group behind me had a single join with them who found one of my wedges greenside. I was waiting for them at the clubhouse when they came off of 18. I asked and they told me that the single grabbed it. They looked around and apparently he got in his car and took without saying a word. Never got the club back. This year, I left another wedge greenside and there was a group directly behind us that would have seen it for sure. I didn't realize it was gone for a few days. Called the course, and sure enough, it wasn't turned in. I will be back there this Friday, so I am hoping it was a member who left it in his cart and turned it in later. I don't have my hopes real high though.

I have found clubs out on the course, and it has never crossed my mind to not turn it in. I just don't understand the mentality of keeping someone elses lost property.

Ouch. I've nearly lost one of my wedges at various times but now if I use it around the green and am not immediately returning it back to my bag I lay it on top of the flagpole. That way someone is going to find it before we all move onto the next tee.

Although that does put me in mind of the chap who walked off the green carrying the flagpole and left his putter on the green. He got all the way to his bag before he realised. We all thought it was hilarious.

I also use the flagpole trick, but I've never seen someone do that. Too funny.

My nephew did it yesterday-got halfway to his cart before he realized it was the flag he was holding and not his wedge, lol. We were playing at a nice private club in a gale and conscious about keeping pace after his drive got knocked down about 80 yards short of where he was looking for it. He has 3 kids under the age of 4 at home including an infant so sleep deprivation may have played a minor role...

I've only lost 2 clubs in my 20+ years playing. Left my CB712 PW at the range, no one ever turned it in. Left my vokey custom ground stamped wedgeworks 58* somewhere at Torrey Pines and no one ever turned it in. Both were annoying to lose, and very disappointing in that they were kept by whoever found them.

The only other club I have ever lost is a brand new Mizuno lob wedge I left behind on the course about five years ago. That I can sort of deal with but a fellow golfer keeping a 6 iron does not make any sense.

This was a golf outing with some once a year golfers...

If they put my club in their bags by mistake, I'm screwed and will never see the club again!!

I have returned rangefinders, Scotty putter and some expensive sunglasses to the pro shop. Hope the karma works out.

Hope you get the club back. If I have an extra club with me on the green, I try to leave it between the hole and the golf cart so when I'm walking back to the cart, I'll trip over it and hopefully be smart enough to pick it up.

A few weeks ago, I find a Mizuno wedge beside the green, we catch up to to group ahead, a threesome ( a twosome joined by a single ) My buddy takes the wedge to them, the single says it's not his. He shows it to the other 2 guys, they take it, but strangely, were examining it like they've never seen it before. We thought it was weird. So a couple holes later, the marshall comes by, asks if we found a Mizuno wedge. We point to the group ahead.

The next week, we find 3 more clubs, each time we rush up to the group ahead to return the clubs........................not one thank you

Don’t lose out on too much hope for humanity, I’ve left or dropped a wedge, laser range finder, and a semi-rare scotty headcover before only to have someone return it almost immediately. If I see a club I’ll hang on to it until someone comes back, if not i leave it at the pro shop. Now one benefit of losing a singe club today is its a lot easier to replace one club without paying full-retail now with ebay and some used club vendors

I did the same thing. I drove out to the parking lot drop my buddies clubs at his car and drove the cart back to the cart barn with my club still on it. I think I would have just told the guys to play 18 while I drove back by myself to get the clubs.

Yep. Same here.

Years ago went on a short road trip with some buddies. Stopped and had a bite to eat after our last round. Drove home. Dropped off a guy, opened the trunk and realized he left his clubs back at the course. Forgot to grab them after we ate. I went home. My buddy drove back with him)about an hour and 45 mins one way). Perhaps he’s a better friend that me, but screw that.

I spent all spring putting together my J15 iron set with PX LZ shafts. Unfortunately I left my 6 iron somewhere on the course today because of cartpath golf and desperately hoping somebody turns in my club.

There are labels on amazon you can customize and they send them to you. I put my info on every club. I know hindsight is 20/20 and stuff but I lost a sand wedge and ever since then did this.

hopefully it comes back to you OP. my wife lost a ballmarker that I bought her for our anniversary. I think it was the 2nd time we went out to play together with it, she thinks it fell out of her pocket on the tee box when she was taking a tee out of her pocket. never got it back. it didn't cost a lot but it did suck not getting it back for her.

buddy of mine left his wedge out one round, 2 weeks later he got it back. given he's a lefty and it was a pinemeadow wedge, id still like to think it would have been turned in regardless.

I left a Cleveland RTX 2.0 wedge next to a green once. I realized it quickly, but when I went back it was gone and no one turned it in. The two groups I asked said they didn't find it. I was really pissed about that one as it ruined my set of wedges.

My dumbest moment was when I accidentally left my Ping G SFT 3 wood leaning against my cart - I had been deciding on driver vs. 3 wood and changed my mind to driver. I forgot I had leaned the 3 wood against the cart and drove away. I noticed 2 holes later and panicked, but I knew there were groups behind me. The guy who took it at first told me he hadn't seen it. He tried to drive away quickly, but I followed and when I asked about the Ping G SFT 3 wood in his bag (he had all taylormade clubs), he admitted he'd found it on the course. I was furious. He actually had the balls to lecture me about being careful with my clubs as they're "expensive to replace."

I swear I almost hit him with it. I was like who the F do you think bought the club? My father/brother/boyfriend/whatever? And a thief lecturing me on anything is absurd. I still see red about that incident. I've been very careful since and generally lay wedges across the flag or directly in my path.

Haven't forgotten one since.
