Ok so slept in til 630 at rusacks and went looking for breakfast hoping my rate included breakfast as I couldn’t remember. Yep it did !

Average spread and not as nice as the old course hotel but then again how can you replicate my window seat which overlooked the 18 and 1 tee? You can’t.

Came back to my room and did some news searching as I have been in golf heaven the last three days. Did some research and made my bookings for the next couple days.

Sunday - Kingsbarns - Expensive but you already knew that 268 pounds!

Monday- North Berwick supposed to be wonderful and looking forward to it as I’m checking out of rusacks Monday morning and transferring to the Marriott by Edinburgh airport for Monday night before my early Tuesday morning flight.

So what about today? The old course is not open as they are playing so local club championship.

Well I said although my feet are hurting I’m not taking a day off. Very rainy today, but I thought if it as atmosphere and walked on over to the Eden and Old clubhouse and although it was a steady rain booked the New course. First went into the clubhouse and purchased another logo towel, goretex bucket hat, water wicking gloves, and an umbrella. All were used to their utmost. Starter paired me with another single who was waiting for someone to go out with. He was a nice guy but not used to waking and was spent by hole 9. The rain made it miserable for him. Wettest day of the three by far. Used my FootJoy waterproofs and worked well except for pants too long for my 5’8 self.

Wasn’t overly impressed with the New course, but after playing the old two days in a row I guess it is hard to live up to that.

Happy to take a shower and kick back and watch the is us open. Just had room service which is ok here and will probably fall asleep around 10 and be up early for my 10:20 Kingsbarns tee time.

Ok so had a glorious breakfast again at rusacks overlooking what it does. Got a 25 pound taxi to Kingsbarns which was maybe 12 minutes and was very impressed with the facility and course.

Got a caddie and joined three visitors from Hong Kong. Caddie was the head greenkeeper at the castle course and was great guy Era was his name. Everything in the Kingsbarns clubhouse was Very expensive! Tack on 50% or more to any item from even the St. Andrews pro shops. A pricy place for sure. Upstairs locker room was very nice and used it for shoes only.

A cool feature is a drying room where they put shoes and clubs in with a heater to dry out stuff and much needed after the downpours on Saturday.

I played very well somehow and even my double bogeys were unlucky so was 83 total with three birdies including 9, 10, 17. Missed two others from inside 15 feet.

Really thought this Kyle Phillips design was very nice with beautiful vistas of the ocean and rolling fairway bumps. Some forced carries and of course deep bunkers. Liked the course quite a bit but wouldn’t pay 263 pounds again.

Went to the dunvegan bar to meet a friend and playing North Berwick tomorrow, so looking forward to that which will be my last round here in Scotland. Here is a photo with my caddie Era and then some Kingsbarns photos.

263 pounds again.

thats not cheap, its a far better course than castle Stewart though, what did you think of the long greens?

I got Trump Aberdeen for 95 this coming Friday and it normally is about the same price.

best round for you so far?

I liked the old course for sure just for history but I played my best by far on kingsbarns. It was a beautiful day with minimal wind as well factors in. Kingsbarns is more of a US style air game with a couple links holes mixed in.

Not sure how to get a discount at kingsbarns and would love to know. Old love to play again but wouldn’t play it over the old for 80 pounds more.

Played a wonderful round and since it is fresh in my mind ..... oh so close for eagle at number 18!

I took out a four wood and waited for the green to clear and had no right to expect to plop it onto the green but my caddie Pat said aim at the left edge of the green and it will kick right. I flushed the four wood and as we walked up saw it about 15 feet from the hole pin high! I was thinking wow I have only ever had three eagles in my life. I said Don’t leave it short! I didn’t but about six inches outside the hole and rolled by 2 feet. Solid birdie.

Wonderful course and quirky for sure. On 15 called Redan which is the original I double bogeyed, but crushed a drive just short of the green on 16 the Gate hole. Duffed a chip and then hit it left and three jacked for a 6! But 18 was worth it.

Gave Pat 70 pounds for a great round and my trip is concluded now leaving tomorrow. Loved my pulled pork sandwich in the clubhouse btw.

Until next time Scotland.

yes, it was...compiling all my pics and will post soon.

Just was unbelievably dry - 14 days in Scotland & London combined and not a single drop of rain!

Did have wind - both on TOC & RD - for afternoon rounds. Morning rounds generally had no wind (or not much)
