G400 3W AD DI low launch?

So Iplay an F7 with a rogue silver currently, and it has been great. Nice launch, easy off the deck, and good distance. My recent love affair with Ping had me want to try the G400. So I ordered one and it came with the Tour 65 shaft. I also had an AD DI 6S laying around to try also.

The Tour 65 did not go very far but launched high. However, it must spin really high because it would come down as quick as it went up. Very short with no run out.

The AD DI was nice. Very long, but would not launch as well as the F7 Rogue Silver but did go the same distance. The other issue was the forgiveness. It just wasn’t there with the G400 ADDI like the F7.

So my question. Is this a major characteristic of the shaft? Or the G400. Have others had success with this setup? Should I try a silver in the G400 or leave well enough alone as the performance gains may not be there with the Ping. It was also really loud and the sound of the F7 is much better. Just wondering if I should give it another chance or stick with what is currently working.

The only reason I would NOT stick with what was currently working is if the performance was indeed better but maybe something like sound or forgiveness wasn't all there. Butt it isn't any longer for you, does not launch how you like, is less forgiving, and doesn't sound as good. There is nothing here that suggests you should pursue that any further.

On paper the AD-DI shaft would be higher launching, but you're much too far away from comparing apples to apples here since its a different weight shaft in a different head and you do not know the true loft of either. Also a shaft is not going to have any real impact on forgiveness so you don't need to consider that. If you had another Rogue Silver lying around I would say give it a try just for kicks, but otherwise I say stick with what is working.

Thanks for the reply. I sold everything on the BST last night, so that was a quick itch that got scratched pretty painlessly. Looks like the F7 and Baffler woods with Rogue shafts are solid in the bag for the season. Now to test ole blue and see if this hype with the G400 is all that. Highly doubt anything can top the F7+ drover with a Rogue Silver, but if this thing eliminates my fade/slice and is as long, winner winner chicken dinner.

They really are phenomenal. I liked the F8 woods as well, but not enough improvement to me to pay more for. I will probably switch to an F8 3/4 and F8+ 4/5 when they come down in price this winter. They did sound better. My son loves his LTD 4/5w also. They are worth a try at a discount as well. Cobra has made some great Woods in the past 3-4 years.
